The Integratron is a unique, parabolic wooden structure built in 1954 that offers tours and sonic healing sessions. Visitors can enjoy a magical sound bath experience while relaxing in hammocks and soaking up the positive vibes from the friendly staff. The origin story of The Integratron is fascinating, making it an intriguing adventure for all Earthlings to experience. Additionally, the location provides an opportunity to explore Joshua Tree Park and witness the beauty of the Milky Way in this dark area.

Went there today…all I can say is that if you can go then go. Even if you can’t take part in a sound bath it’s still cool. But, if you do get to partake… Wow😲 Definitely New Age but definitely not a tourist trap…desert’s beautiful and Giant Rock is only 3 miles away…

I just had the most amazing sound bath experience! It was so relaxing and peaceful—I’m definitely recommending it to anyone who needs a reset. Make sure to bring a comfy blanket and a water bottle so you can really enjoy it.Afterward, I couldn’t resist stopping by the gift shop. They had so many cool things! I grabbed a couple of bracelets and some pretty stones, but they also had cups and even clothing merch, which was super cute. You’ve got to check it out if you go!It has a magical atmosphere perfect for relaxing and calming the mind and soul. The whole experience was amazing.

How do I put into words what cannot be understood-only experienced...This place is magical, miraculous and mystical. I've attended many of sound healing sessions, but none like this. In fact, the 1st session at 10:15 with Kristine was so phenomenal that I attended the one directly after with Karly, and the third with Joe at 5:15. All mind blowing. Each was profoundly healing and transformational. The family owned staff are top notch. They keep the grounds well maintained, decorated just right, preserve the sacredness of Integratron's true nature, and above all are so kind, welcoming, and personable. The acoustics, space, energy, and healing that takes place are like no other.Come experience this for yourself. I invite you to go to the depths of your soul and experience true wonderment.

I have gone to the grounds five times and have had the sound bath experience twice. Both times it was different, but glad the hammocks were there to just be afterwards.Make reservations in advance for this an extremely popular attraction about 45 miles from Palm Springs.

Such a neat experience. The history is fun, the dome is beautiful, the owners are fantastic, and the sound bath is so unique

Paul M — Google review

This was a very unique experience and fun time with our group of nine! If you book get there early so you can walk around and relax and maybe pick up some souvenirs in the gift shop. We booked for November in September. 1 session holds up to 35 people.

Diane S — Google review

I loved this experience. Got to drag my son along and it was interesting to see the effects of a soundbath on a teen. They are very organized and run a tight ship. Can’t imagine how stressful it might be to offer something like this and ensure that people have a healing experience. It’s a very special building on very special land. I def recommend making time for this if you are in the area.

Augusta G — Google review

This was absolutely the BEST sound bath I have ever experienced and the 2nd best meditation experience (hey, I did EST in the 70's) of my life.Superior!

Lyn S — Google review

I’m not an evangelist for sound healing, but the experience at the Integratron is out of this world. The sound of the bowls will blow your mind and the space is super cool and interesting. Everyone is very nice and it’s super relaxing. Come in sweats, and wear shoes that are easy to slip in and off. Bring a blanket and be sure to make reservations because it’s very popular and space is limited. Make sure to arrive 20-30 minutes before your scheduled reservation for check-in, restroom, and pictures.

Ohad P — Google review

What a really great experience. This had been on my bucket list for so long but it was either the pandemic or tickets had to be bought so far in advance. I never managed to make it in time on any trips. I had to Palm springs. Finally it happened! The staff is really fun and the guy doing this sound baths had been doing it for well over a decade. It was great. The mats that you're on are very comfortable and it's very easy to zone out. It's a true experience. Very happy I did it. The gift shop is really nice. Also. I really enjoyed the grounds and had I know and I probably would have brought a lunch to sit and eat at one of the tables or plan to spend more time hanging out in the hammocks or looking at the art and creative decor.

Regan B — Google review

What a delightful place. The sound bath was magical. The people that run the place have such positive, pleasant vibes as well. And there are even hammocks to enjoy while waiting for your bath. The origin story is fascinating. We will have to come back some day to introduce other family members to this unique adventure. And if you go later in the afternoon you can swing through Joshua Tree Park and see the Milky Way as it is a dark area. I think. It was docked in with rain clouds when we attempted this.

Tani S — Google review

Please note: my perception ONLY:Experiencing the Integratron Sound Bath felt akin to floating in a meditative tank. The session began with the resonant hum of the C note bowl, attuned to the root chakra, grounding my essence. As the vibrations traveled through each chakra, from the root to the crown, the ethereal tones of the F note bowl reverberated deeply, purifying my aura like a celestial Brillo pad. Seeing a red and white crystal tapestry.Immersed in these frequencies, I felt as if I was drawn down to the very water table of the Earth. There, amidst a soundscape of otherworldly music, I envisioned a serpent's face—an ancient guardian of hidden knowledge. Just as I began to unravel its mysteries, a woman’s presence gently pulled me away and guided me to the majestic Turkish light ship. The light ship transported me to a distant planet, where beings tended to their offspring on a world bathed in carbon monoxide with a green sky. The journey continued as a delicate straw ship carried me to the Tree of Life.Beneath its ancient branches, five radiant crystals merged into a single entity, nourishing the tree’s roots.Throughout this mystical voyage, my pineal gland vibrated with the energy of a golden butterfly, its gentle fluttering guiding me towards a profound realization. In the end, I was enveloped in the pure, all-encompassing love that exists at the dawn of creation, connecting me to the eternal essence of one love. The toxins flowing out of my left index finger and felt like I wanted to continue in this light.Suddenly frequencies like tuning forks surrounding my whole essence,..truly a sound bath experience.

Incredible experience to have a sound bath here. The acoustics in the Integratron are out of this world and the story behind the building is so interesting. Have been twice now and will go again.

Tash G — Google review

I have been wanting to attend a sound bath here for ages, every time I remember to look they are all sold out, I finally got lucky and this place did not disappoint. It’s smaller than I imagined but the vibe is so peaceful. You need to be there 30 minutes before the sound bath to check in, there are shaded seating areas to wait comfortably. I love sound baths this is now my favorite one, the mats they provide are comfortable and the acoustics are phenomenal, I will definitely be back.

Pilar B — Google review

What a great sound bath experience. The guide was very through and made the experience stress free , Book in advance .

Manny R — Google review

Went to The Integratron in mid-December.A memorable and unique experience. While the sound bath was unusual and interesting, I was more taken by the setting in the desert, the architecture of the structure itself, and the presence of simpatico people along for the experience.

Dan H — Google review

It is like nothing I had ever experienced. If you are on the fence, go. We went off road a bit for about a half mile behind the building to the right, to see the “big rock” and that also did not disappoint.

Deidra L — Google review

This was a cool experience. I didn’t know what to expect. I thought I would be overwhelmed or would feel uncomfortable. It all passed and I was able to relax and enjoy the experience. For me, It’s simply a great place to reflect and deeply meditate. It’s like a movie or class where you have to experience it and then it ends. The staff make this place comfortable and make you feel at ease, specially if you don’t know what to expect. The staff is so well informed and their appearance and knowledge is very professional. The grounds are well kept. The whole trip was enlightening. We even took a short drive to visit the giant rock afterwards. I definitely recommend for anyone interested.

The Cholla Cactus Garden is a must-see attraction within Joshua Tree National Park. This otherworldly area offers vibrant colors and a flat loop walking trail that allows visitors to marvel at the prickly wonders of the cacti. It's recommended to visit during sunrise to witness a truly special sight and beat the crowds to hiking trails and points of interest.

So stunning at sunset. Great view for star gazing as well. 🫶🏻 great place to stop by at Joshua tree park

S J — Google review

My first time to look at the Cholla Cactus! What an exotic and mystic beauty!!**Never touch or step on the Cholla!**It is indescribably hurting!!!!! Watch your step while not on the wooden trail.

J. K — Google review

This was our group's FAVORITE stop in all of Joshua Tree! We had an entire sunset photoshoot, met some Europeans flying a drone, built a rock tower, and loved walking around the cacti. Watch your feet so that you don't step on any of them! Come here during golden hour, you won't regret it!There is a nice 1/4 mile walking trail around the garden, with many chances to walk off the trail and approach cacti. Nice parking lot with no water for the public.

Dennis G — Google review

I have mixed feelings about the Cholla Cactus Garden. On one hand, the chollas are absolutely stunning and unlike any other cactus I've seen before. But on the other hand, they're incredibly dangerous. One wrong move and you could end up with a painful and difficult-to-remove cactus spines stuck in your skin. I always try to be extra careful when I'm around them, but I still have nightmares about accidentally falling into a chollas.

SIRLUNA ( — Google review

Really a pretty place to stop in Joshua Tree National Park! The sun hitting the cacti was so pretty and the colors are lovely. They're serious when they say don't touch them though, the spines will really stick you. We loved visiting.

Michelle M — Google review

My favorite place in Joshua Tree NP. A beautiful garden where you can really spend some time. It's a bit tricky to find the walking paths in between the cacti, as the paths are not very clear/visible. After some time you just get that it's up to you to decide where you want to walk and how far inside of the garden do you want to get.No toilet around.

Jana K — Google review

It was beautiful. Make sure to be before because of parking and because the glowing starts just before the sun touches the cactus. If the sun touches the cactus directly pictures aren’t going to be so good.

Yemelin L — Google review

Beautiful specially in the evening around sunset. The unique plants in the nature. They have limited parking. Make sure you don’t go off the trail/wooden path. The thorn are dangerous and can give you a lot of trouble. So avoid touching or stepping on them. They penetrate through shoes and clothes as well.

Chetan P — Google review

This desert is absolutely beautiful! We went very early in the morning to avoid traffic and the heat. We got to the back entrance for about 6-6:30am or so and finished the entire park at about 9am or so. We definitely beat the heat as we went recently in May so best to go early or later!

Khusbu M — Google review

Very unique area. Be careful of the cactus. It's thorns are very fine. If it's windy view from a safe distance.

Pooja C — Google review

Download the map of Joshua Tree area to use offline while you visit. If you have a hard time finding the trail, just look it up on your map, it’s a short loop. Don’t get off the trail.

N F — Google review

This place is amazing. One of the best spots on the Joshua Tree National Park. It’s the first place we went to. It’s a beautiful garden of cactuses. You can walk around and take pictures. Be careful with little kids as there are a lot of fallen cactuses on the ground and you could easily get hurt.

Raghavendra M — Google review

One of the most magical places on this planet. You see nature's magnificent work at its best. Hundreds and thousands of cholla cactus standing proudly in the windy air of Joshua Tree National Park. The best time to visit is during sunset or sunrise when the entire place is cast with the golden light of the desert sun. Now, be careful to keep a safe distance from these 'teddy bear' cacti and don't try to wander off the trail.

Stephan P — Google review

Amazing place to visit. There's so much cholla that you can just keep walking. Just be careful not to get lost as the parking lot does disappear as you walk further in. There are a bunch of cactus balls on the floor that can cling into you. The wind can blow needles onto you as well. If you stay on the trail provided, you will be okay. If you go off it, just make sure you don't get prick. I didn't see any bees when I was there in late March during the day. There were lizards and birds flying around.

Steven B — Google review

A cute small looped trail, perfect for the family. It does feel far from the other trails and attractions at Joshua Tree.

Jon F — Google review

This is my FAVORITE spot in Joshua Tree National Park!!This 0.2 mile flat loop is gorgeous, fascinating, and mesmerizing garden full of Cholla (Choy-ya). I would go at sunrise or sunset because the Cholla look like they are glowing and it’s so magical! This is a must stop!!Parking is minimal. We got there at 7:20am and the parking lot was half full.

Chloe M — Google review

Gorgeous little cactus garden! Take the quarter mile loop and enjoy seeing sweeping views of the valley. Parking might be tight during busy times of year, but also not very busy closer to sunset (when we went) it’s worth it!

Torsten K — Google review

Well worth stopping here to walk the path and see (and take photos, esp during sunset or sunrise). Pronounced "choy-ya" (NOT cho-la). Could spend 15 - 60 mins here depending on how much time you want to take photos

Brian L — Google review

Best to be visited during sunset. Must visit in Joshua Tree ♥️

Jeanny H — Google review

Such a beautiful picture perfect place. I had the honor to get proposed to here during a sunrise 💍🫶🏼 and it was absolutely beautiful.Thank you babe 🤍

Josie B — Google review

Cholla Garden is a mesmerizing enclave that transports you to a different planet, offering an unparalleled experience unlike any other place in California. To catch the breathtaking sunrise, an early start is essential, with a recommendation to arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.Spending a minimum of an hour in this enchanting landscape allows you to capture the captivating transformation of colors in the surroundings – before, during, and after the sunrise. Each moment presents a unique palette that makes for stunning photographs. While navigating through the cactuses, it's crucial to walk with caution. The spikes on these plants are akin to a formidable machine, easily attaching themselves to clothing and causing significant discomfort. Despite this prickly challenge, the awe-inspiring beauty of Cholla Garden makes the experience well worth the early wake-up call and careful exploration.

Nature & Parks

Skull Rock Trail in Joshua Tree National Park is a short and enjoyable hike that leads to a natural rock formation resembling a human skull, complete with eye sockets. The trail offers an up-close encounter with the unique desert environment, weaving through fascinating rock formations and Joshua trees. While the rock can be seen from the main road, taking the 1.5-mile nature trail loop allows visitors to explore more of the area's whimsical beauty.

Incredibly accessible, hence will be super crowded. Still worth a quick stop and a picture - you'll have other people in your Pic, just use Magic Eraser in the Pixel 6 to remove them! There are many rocks to climb here, but you should move to a different location that will be more spread out and have fewer people.

Mini R — Google review

Loved Joshua Tree National Park. The rangers are super friendly and full of information. The park is very accessible, allowing some key features, such as this one, to be visible with just just a short walk. That being said, it is worth getting out of the car and walking around to explore. (All these pictures were from a 30 minute walk around Skull Rock.) Just be sure to take water and find your way back. It is also great people watching with visitors from around the world.

Carsten B — Google review

Skull rock as a located along the main east-west park road in Joshua Tree National Park. Skull Rock is a favorite stop for park visitors. So you’ll always meet people there. You can just park across the road from the rock to see it and take pictures or you can take a 1.7-mile hike. Nature trail begins either just across from the entrance to Jumbo Rocks Campground or inside the campground, across from the amphitheater. One side is rocky the other side is full of desert plants. You can learn a lot about all the plants alongside the trail.

Agnieszka P — Google review

Skull Rock is a cool area with many interesting rock formations to see and climb on. It is difficult to get a good picture of the namesake because of it's large size and where you need to be to photograph it.There is a lot more to see here than just the one rock. Do take your time to explore and climb on the rocks. Fun. Fun. Fun.Across the street is another path for hiking which connects with the Split Rock Loop Trail, and I definitely recommend that.Make sure that you budget enough time to properly explore this area. Be sure to wear good walking shoes & sunscreen and bring plenty of water.

Jeffrey P — Google review

The trail itself is well-marked and moderately challenging, making it suitable for all skill levels. The scenic views along the way are breathtaking, showcasing the park's natural beauty. Be sure to bring water and sunscreen, as shade is limited. Overall, Skull Rock Trail is a memorable adventure that allows you to connect with the stunning desert landscape.

Thompson C — Google review

Easy “hike”, rock is next to the road and super fun for kids all ages. Had a great time climbing and exploring the rock formations around it. Perfect time of day and weather in November!

Ariel O — Google review

Really unique and interesting rock formation, right alongside the road. In addition to this rock, there are a bunch of other rocks that are fun to walk around and explore. The whole area is really cool looking, almost like the landscape of another planetThe only reason why I can't give this 5 stars is the throngs of people you will see here. It took me forever to get photographs without multiple people in frame, and everywhere you turn you see people. I saw more people here than anywhere else in the park, hands down. Although the light is best for this feature around midday, you'd probably have a much better time seeing this early morning or late afternoon when the crowds are more manageable

Gunnar C — Google review

The trail from the camp ground to Skull Rock has several good placards describing the plants and animals of Joshua Tree NP. Very informative!

Cory G — Google review

Our second stop at Joshua Tree National Park was Skull Rock, and it did not disappoint! This iconic natural wonder is conveniently located right by the main road, making it easily accessible and a must-visit for all park-goers. It is also visible from your car. The granite rock's erosion created two hollowed-out eye sockets, giving it the name Skull Rock.Parking can be a bit tight, but you can always park at Jump Rocks Campground and take a short walk back to the rock. If you're up for more adventure, there's a 1.7-mile loop trail nearby to explore. The unique rock formations and the surrounding desert landscape make this a fantastic stop along your Joshua Tree journey. Don't miss it!

Tasnim I — Google review

Skull Rock Trail in Joshua Tree National Park is a delightful jaunt into nature's whimsy, featuring a natural rock formation that resembles a skull, adding a touch of playful mystery to the landscape. The trail itself offers a short and enjoyable hike, weaving through the unique rock formations and Joshua trees, providing an up-close encounter with the fascinating desert environment. The highlight, undoubtedly, is the iconic Skull Rock, a testament to the creative forces of erosion shaping the granite boulders into this uncanny likeness. Visitors of all ages will find delight in exploring this area and marveling at the skull-shaped rock. It's an ideal spot for photography enthusiasts seeking to capture the perfect shot amidst the scenic backdrop of Joshua Tree National Park. The Skull Rock Trail is a must-visit destination within the park, showcasing the intriguing blend of nature's artistry and the captivating allure of the desert landscape. Whether you're embarking on a family adventure or simply seeking a short and memorable hike, this trail promises an enjoyable and memorable experience

This rock formation, easily accessible from the road, is a popular stop known for its beauty. Due to its popularity, the area can be quite busy, including the parking lot. It's advisable to visit early in the day if you can.

Peter V — Google review

Easy loop trail for kids. Lots of people there so not a great place for serenity. The art of the trail runs through the campground which means there were a lot of toilets available too, another plus with kids.

Ryan G — Google review

One of four stops we made in the park! Really cool! Take your picnic and eat on the giant rock just to the right of skull! From there hike a bit through the rocks to find more cool formations! A must in JT!

Ron E — Google review

While on our way to the Skull Rock Trail on 2-25-2018 we took in the views of the different style dwellings along the way. We noticed subtle changes in the terrain the closer we came to the trail. When we arrived, we could see the skull shaped rock protruding out the ground as if were waking from a nap. The girls had their thrill and we were ready to continue on to our next BLM spot.

ChinookAdventuresRv — Google review

This is a very relaxing 1.7mile trail. It's a fun and easy trail for everyone, the best part is all the different large sized boulders and rocks that you can climb you can spend hours here. If you just want to snap a photo of the skull rock it's only 100meters walk from the street.

Stephan P — Google review

We didn't walk this trail, so I can't comment about the trail goodness but I can say Skull Rock itself is enter we ran into a crowd. The other trails we hiked were very nice & not crowded, but not at Skull Rock ☹️ The rock is a crowd draw, so I get it. Stop for just a pic of Skull Rock because it's very cool, but don't come to get away from people 😝

Taku S — Google review

You can park as close or as far from skull rock and then hike to it. Theres all sorts of trails through Joshua tree. It’s a beautiful site! We street parked at an available spot and then just hiked here. 10/10 would recommend!

Autumn G — Google review

A good place to hike around and experience Joshua Tree.

Chris B — Google review

Awesome rock formation very close to the road, but hidden behind trees. There is parking right along the side of the road, well marked and paved. We just went in and out, but there is definitely more to explore beyond the skull.

Anabel H — Google review

This is a very popular attraction in Joshua Tree National Park. Parking is designated alongside the main road. It will be crowded. We made it here mid day and were lucky to find a parking space. Skull Rock is merely steps from the main road. Natural water erosion over time carved out what resembles a skull. I did not have time to hike the 2 mile loop trail, I stuck to just the trailhead. You can spend around 30 minutes here taking pictures and climbing on the rock formations. The kids will love climbing the rocks here. I felt like I was in Bedrock in a Flintstone cartoon movie.

John H — Google review

Enjoyable walking trails with ever-changing landscapes, creating a wild atmosphere. The paths are not too challenging, but there's a slight risk of getting lost the way.

Jing — Google review

One of the must see spot in Joshua tree national park need couple of hour and sunset view is amazing so plan accordinglyAmazing Rock formation.. easily accessible and lots of people as you can explore the rock climbing and venture through the rock to rock.Kids had super fun as it’s challenging and thrilling to climb on the bigger rocks.Looks like it would have amazing views for sunset .. we missed that. The Joshua Tree Visitor Center is a small park facility that offers exhibits, maps, books, and souvenirs to its visitors. It also provides information on guided hikes in the area. The rock formations are a major attraction, displaying some of the most remarkable geological features formed over time. To fully enjoy the experience, it is important to do one's research beforehand and arrive early while staying hydrated throughout the day.

This place is really inspiring. It feels massive and reminds you how small we really are. It’s a great place to rock climb or boulder, or just scramble around on the rocks. My favorite thing about this National Park is the space. It seems you can always find your own little spot. When I was little, my parents brought me here. We were scrambling around the Skull rock area and we stumbled upon a meditating man. He asked us what time it was. That’s sort of what Joshua Tree is all about.

Kendall T — Google review

We couldn't explore the whole park. We ended up taking the 3 hour tour because of the heat. I didn't know you could drive thru to explore. You won't be disappointed. Great views and clean restrooms around the park as well. Only down fall you can't bring along your fur babies.

Chrissy I — Google review

Great rock formations, of course wonderful Joshua trees, ample hiking trails, parking with clean outhouses. Saw some wildlife, namely small birds and lizards. Camping is available. Very exposed to the sun so be prepared! Would be nice to view the night sky here. Go to the visitor centre to obtain excellent information as to where to go and what not to miss. Very helpful!

This is a beautiful park! It's extremely large. You can't see it all in a day or even in a week. It has many lovely vistas! And there are some great little picnic spots too. I didn't camp here but it's definitely worth camping here for a day or two.

This is a quaint little town that has quaint little shops. I have posted a picture of the crochet Museum. Apparently it's the only smallest of its type in the world. Check out the local pub with happy hour specials. All amenities are in town such as hotel, mcdonald's, Etc you really must see this the Joshua trees are everywhere.

Take your car and just drive slowly from stop to stop. Take Photo's, walk slowly, drink alott, go to your car and repeat.... Wonderfull place to visit. However when i visited Joshua Tree National Park it was 47 celcius.... Didn't walk much outside the car... 🙄

Beautiful place. Best to visit in Spring, rather than Autumn. Take some shades, sport or hiking shoes. Did not spot any wild animals apart from birds and coyote (?). Water can be taken at main gate but not possible to refill during ride.Entrance for a car up to 15 passangers is 30$.

This is for the Joshua Tree National Park. We visited in the middle of April and the weather was perfect. The ranger staff was very helpful and all the park employees were courteous and cheerful. From Palm Springs and back we drove a total of 110 miles. The park is a long drive with a series of places to pull off the road and visit various sites as well as information all exhibits, which are roadside placards and very informational. The Flora and Fauna we're very interesting and the Joshua Tree forests you're beautiful. As you had South along Park Road and then East be sure to head south again to visit the ocotillo and chollo areas, they are quite a sight. We took a hike to find arch rock, but you might not attempt that as neither did we find it, nor did anyone else we asked. Like most national parks the further you hike out the fewer people you will encounter. If you are going to do some light walking along the trails tennis shoes are fine. Unless you're staying overnight in the park is a Backpacker this is a day trip where you will be driving getting out of the car and viewing things and then getting back in the car and driving again. Overall this was a very enjoyable experience and unique. One thing to note is that if you buy your tickets in advance at The Visitor Center then you don't have to wait when you get to the park entrance at the ranger station cuz there can be quite a backup of cars looking to purchase their tickets. The fee was $20 for our automobile and we bought a lifetime national park pass instead.

Took about 25-30 minutes to get into the park, we unfortunately left out lifetime pass at home 🤦‍♀️Peaceful drive, took about an hour and a half. We hiked to heart rock, there is some steepness and inclines, but wasn’t difficult. The trees are very unique and views can be nice. It was nice to see, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.Saw way too many disrespectful people walking where they didn’t belong which was sad.

Taylor — Google review

Fantastic park full of rich history. Highly recommend getting the audio tour from Get Your Guide. Thank you to all of the phenomenal rangers caring for this gem.

Venisia G — Google review

Amazing natural park. The landscape is magnificent and interesting. There are so many species of plants that you can spend hours. The rocks are so astonishing. All that makes this place exciting and relaxing at the same time.

David V — Google review

This visitor center is pretty nice. Follow the signs to enter from the side. You will enter to an information section. You will get a lot of information from the rangers and from all the signs. The gift shop is next door and has a large selection. The merchandise is a little pricey compared to other stores nearby but the quality is much better. There's also restrooms in the merchandise section.

Steven B — Google review

Just little visitor center that’s located not in the park, and a bit of a drive away from the entrance. Not the most exciting National Park Visitor Center that I’ve seen, but they had a lot of rangers ready to help. The shop part was small, but had public bathrooms which are always handy before a hike.

Katie B — Google review

When arriving, my first thought was, okay its a desert with desert plants and Cactus. I've been there, done that. However, after going into the visitor center, I left with a whole new attitude and appreciation for I was about to witness. Our trip through the National Park was cut short due to private matters, so I am short on photos, but the park is an interesting and educational experience. I highly recommend going through the visitor center and taking the time to look at the exhibits.

Donald P — Google review

Joshua Tree National Park is a must-visit when in California. The journey from the south entry to the north gate takes a full day with numerous stops. Prioritize trails with help from the ranger at the visitor center. Remember to carry plenty of water, wear a jacket in fall and spring, and download an offline map for navigation since there's no signal within the park.

Ashish M — Google review

Beautiful nature! Well marked roads, awesome photo ops, plenty of directional signs, clean! Nice little visitors centers at different entrances. Zero cell service in many parts of the park, but why be on the phone when you’re surrounded by such majestic views?! Plenty of areas throughout the park to pull off, get out of your car, and take pics or videos. The temperature when I visited was a lovely 74 degrees. My dog was totally unimpressed with this place, though.

Jan J — Google review

This place is magical. The national park is super unique, and absolutely beautiful. Hands down the best things to do here are watch the sunset and sunrise. Explore, climb some rocks. We camped in the jumbo rocks campground and every spot is near…jumbo rocks. Really cool. The coyotes go insane at night howling though-it’s like a midnight alarm clock but whatever, still amazing. Still beautiful and an *amazing* place to bring kids!

Justin C — Google review

Ranger Dave was very helpful!Really nice park. Not on the top of my list of (so far) 21/63 National Parks, but somewhere in the middle.Really cool that we got to see a roadrunner! But some stupid tourist tried to get to close to get a picture on his phone, and scared him away. I'd only seen one before, in Big Bend National Park.Other than that, the only other wildlife we saw was a few ravens.Overall really nice experience here!

Nature & Parks

Hidden Valley Nature Trail Trailhead offers a picturesque 1-mile hiking loop with stunning rock formations and panoramic views of Joshua trees and the desert landscape. This easy and flat trail provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the iconic Joshua Tree scenery. The trail is rumored to have been used by cattle ranchers in the 19th century as a hiding spot for their herds, adding an enchanting element to the experience.

We’ve been to 4 or 5 hikes in Joshua tree now and happy valley is one of our family favorites. It’s an easy 1 mile loop, although our hike turned into about 1.5 miles due to the amount of climbing we did. This is such a fun hike with so much variety in what you see and can do. There’s limitless possibilities in bouldering. Our two kids, ages 10 and 12, loved climbing and exploring. We saw families with toddlers who were running and climbing off steam.Try and get there early as the parking lot tends to fill up by 10. We got there at 10:30 and we’re lucky someone was leaving. The rangers were redirecting people to another lot when we left at 12:30.There are pit toilets and many picnic tables for lunch at the parking lot. Easy drive in and out as well. Take sunscreen and water and enjoy the peace and calm of Joshua Tree!

All Trails: 1.34miles, 118ft elevation gain, 56 mins. This is awesome trail! Not too difficult and saw two park volunteers hiking as well and they were very knowledgeable. Lots of prickly pear cacti which I loved! Tons of places to do some boulder climbing or watching the real rock climbers 😅There is no shade! Bring sunscreen, more water than you think you need (1L/hour/person), and layers.A bunch of variety of cacti and we found the “throne” of hidden valley 😂Have lunch at the picnic area after your hike! This is a very busy attraction! We arrived at 9:50am and got what seemed to be the last parking spot. Left around 12:30pm and there was a ranger at the entrance not allowing people to enter.

Chloe M — Google review

One of my favorite beginner hikes in Joshua Tree! There were so many cool boulders to climb, little trails to explore, and gorgeous views of the park. We even saw some professional climbers scaling a huge wall! Our group of 18 absolutely loved it here, highly recommend for any group size and skill level

Dennis G — Google review

Easy loop with some really great views of the rocks and Joshua Trees. Make sure you wear lots of sunscreen when you're here! One of the first stops on the trip and one of the better ones as well!

Josh W — Google review

This trail is Majestic. If your schedule only permits a short hike, this is the one to take. It is wonderful that JPNP allows all type of rock climbing from repelling to free form. Be safe and have fun.

Dot M — Google review

You'll be immersed in the tranquility of the hidden valley, shielded from the outside world by towering rock walls. The unique geological features and the untouched beauty of Hidden Valley make it a captivating experience. Whether you're seeking a peaceful stroll or a place to connect with nature, this trail offers it all. Don't forget your camera, as there are plenty of opportunities to capture memorable moments amidst the breathtaking scenery.

Thompson C — Google review

Easy trail head! With an area to eat food and picnics or grill just before entering the trail. Great for families and kids, it’s about a 2 mile loop and has great signs and info you can read passing by, the signs are clearly labeled no way you could get lost. Be careful of snakes. Other than that great view, you can see different types of animals, the holes they leave, and passing by it was a great way to learn the different plants and trees that grow on the valley

Jemima M — Google review

This trail has a mix of flat terrain to walk and rock steps to traverse, with minor changes in elevation. You can expect to see some wildlife. Mostly birds, lizards, and desert rodents. The blooming cacti were really pretty.

Thyblacksmith — Google review

A wonderful short hike in Joshua Tree. Takes approximately 30 minutes and is walks in a loop.

Alex H — Google review

Joshua Tree is stunning 😍 This was my first time going, and I wanted to experience something that wasn't overkill (literally because they had signs telling you to "not die" haha) and wouldn't take me all day. This particular trail was a loop and was fairly easy to navigate (follow the footprints if anything or wait for people to pass by because it is a pretty active trail - at least for the time I went which was noonish on a Thursday). Bring sunscreen, LOTS of water (not just to drink), a tiny first aid kit, hand sanitizer, snacks, and maybe wear light clothes that will cover more surface area (not just for sun protection but if you walk too close to any vegetation, etc). Bring wet wipes or something for hygiene because there are porta potties on site, and there is no running water. The entrance fee for the whole park is $30 and lasts 7 days, I believe (which is a pretty great deal). They only take credit or debit. This place is definitely worth coming back to multiple times, so be safe and enjoy!

C I — Google review

This is definitely one of the best bang for your buck trails at Joshua Tree. I haven't been to them all, but so far If I only had time to do one, this would be it.

Jon F — Google review

Easy hike. Beautiful views, adventurous options. We arrived at dark to find a location for sunrise. We enjoyed the area completely alone until we left. Sunrise was from 6:31 to 7:30

Shannon V — Google review

Nice place to hike for 1-2 hours. Thieves used to hide their stolen cows in this valley and got this name. We saw two groups of rock climbers on two sides of the valley. We saw a few big birds and quite a few smaller birds.

John F — Google review

Our visit to Joshua Tree National Park began at the Hidden Valley Nature Trail Trailhead, and it was an absolute gem! The 1-mile loop trail is easy to navigate and takes you through a stunning rock-enclosed valley with one-of-a-kind rock formations. We were there in May, anticipating scorching heat, but Mother Nature surprised us with a gentle drizzle, making our hike even more enjoyable. The trailhead offers ample parking, a well-maintained parking lot, and clean restrooms.

Tasnim I — Google review

A beautiful trail. We did this 7am in early November. It could not have been more pleasant and wonderful. We took time to walk around. We are not professional hikers by any means. It was the perfect length with one mile loop that is easy to follow.

Ichiko K — Google review

I really recommend this trail if you want to experience Joshua Tree National Park and do a bit of hiking. In something more than 1 hour, you see everything that you can see in the park, and from relatively close perspective.I recommend to go for this hike early in the morning, just to avoid big heat. But you even see this warning on the board when entering the trail.

Jana K — Google review

Christmas morning 2023, just perfect. A generally easy loop to hike, I'm a reasonably fit 68 year old. Packed with so much to see! We heard the happy chatter of many different languages around us, it was a popular destination. Some plaques were okay, but that whole "no dogs", even on a leash, because canine smell will deter the bighorn sheep is just plain malarkey. Always gotta be joy killers inflicting us with indoctrination. Funny thing, some foreign born visitors who engaged with us at Keyes View the same day mentioned to us that they found the placques inaccurate and off putting. Well, don't let the grumble butts deter you. This is a family friendly adventure.

Patti L — Google review

A super short and easy 1 mile loop trail. It took me less than an hour to complete with several stops. There aren’t too many Joshua trees on this one but the rock formations and various cacti are cool. A bit chilly in October in the shade. The wind was also blowing hard. A great first introduction trail to Joshua Tree NP.

Aliza B — Google review

Great hike, my wife and i were out there at sun up....as the sun came up the shadows and lite wer neat to see. It was cold when we first got there, but once we got moving we warmed up quite a bit.Joshua tree is an amazing place and we are already planning on going back

It was a fun & hit drive. No traffic. Very easy going. Do bring a cooker with bottle water!!

Edgar P — Google review

$30 to enter Joshua Tree National Park with a car, valid for 7 days. There are bathrooms and porta potties right when you enter the park. This is an easy trail if you stay on the flat path. My friend, and I ended up climbing over some rocks, and it was fun but quite difficult and not for children (8 out of 10 difficulty at times).

Keys View, located in Joshua Tree National Park, is a popular vantage point offering stunning panoramic views of mesas, mountains and the Coachella Valley. A scenic 20-minute drive up from Park Blvd takes you to this spot which stands at an elevation of 5185ft above sea level.

Phenomenal scenic view, excellent for photos. Be aware of aggressive bees.

George C — Google review

Breathtaking view!! Not much walking unless you want to go up and see from the top of the hill. It's still not a lot of walking but it is a bit of an incline but not terrible. The view from up there is worth it! We were there at the end of July on a Friday so it wasn't busy.

Andrea G — Google review

This is a good place to see the desert valleys and the surrounding mountains. We captured the strong sand storm in the valley around Palm Springs.

Shumin G — Google review

Amazing vantage point to see the sunset over the park and cities. Even better to watch the moonrise in the east with clouds and haze (looks like a UFO), and see the desert valley below light up with city lights

Keith S — Google review

Mind blowing views from this place. The haze between the mountain is everything. The little walk to the top is paved and walkable. 100% recommended to not miss if you’re coming to Joshua Tree National park.

Mudit J — Google review

Worth the drive up to see this view! Very cool to be able to see the San Andreas fault line in person and great visual aids to show where it’s located.

Seth L — Google review

Easy ride there for a superb view over the valley. A lot of bees in the parking lot.

WEICHENG C — Google review

Great place to see sunset 🌅 Come early so you don’t miss the stunning views because parking is always full.

Definitely with the drive. One of the best views on the park and you can drive right up to it. Wasn't crowded in June. Restrooms on-site. Glad I stopped.

It's a different side of Joshua Tree National Park. You will have a view of Coachella Valley. It was my 2nd time and still amazing and still cold 🥶 😄. There was a cold breeze from the top viewing area. It is beautiful views up there though.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit Joshua National Park, make sure you make time and save a bit of your energy to watch the sunset 🏜 at Key's view, you will feel as if you are in heaven. You can see the Coachella valley, Palm Springs, and even the San Andreas fault in front of you.One of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen in my life.Joshua National Park

You could spend an entire day at the Hall of Horrors and Keys View. Our family, including 4 young children, spent the day exploring the Hall and had a great time. The ones who weren't tired and ready to head home, went to Keys for some of the most beautiful views I've ever seen.

John C — Google review

Fantastic spot to watch the sunset! Can get crowded as it is well known so get there early if you’re hoping to park.

Katie W — Google review

Great spot to watch the sunset. About 30min into Joshua Tree, and the lookout is a 2-min walk from a good sized parking lot. Stargazing is good here but may be good at more interior parts of the park.

Kevin F — Google review

The parking is horrible lol. Get here early if you want to catch the sunset. Lots of demand, low supply. Most people started double parking and going off road to get a spot.I missed golden hour, but we were still able to see a magnificent sunset. 🙏Make sure to bring warm clothes and a jacket, the wind can make it feel freezing!!! 🥶

Blazing F — Google review

This is the best place in Joshua Tree to see the sunset. The view is absolutely gorgeous. At this time of year there is snow on the mountains and this is a beautiful contrast to the desert landscape. The trail to the viewpoint is paved and very short but it is very steep and could be an issue to people with mobility. However, there is still a beautiful viewpoint that can be seen from the parking lot.If you do go to the top be careful of very high winds. I've visited this place a few times and it can get extremely windy.Parking can also get full quickly especially during the sunset. I would recommend getting there a bit early to get a spot.

Alexandra W — Google review

This is a wonderful view point. We can see Palm Springs from this point with binoculars. We can also see the San Andreas Fault in front of us. Even clouds blocked most of the west view, but the sunlight shone colorful rays and painted the sky colorful, it felt like we were in heaven!

John F — Google review

Photos can’t do anything like this justice. This is one of those places you have to experience with your own eyes. Sunsets here are proposal-worthy. Worth it, no question.

Joel M — Google review

Super pretty. Joshua tree is a favorite for us. We love being outdoor without a lot of people around and Joshua tree is one of our favorite areas beside Yellowstone. You can easily miss running into people and truly have a real experience in nature but you can also have a bunch of rude people trying to shine their car lights in your face while your eyes adjust to the total darkness to view the Milky Way. Unfortunately no one seems to have common sense or be cognizant of anyone but themselves and their own nonsense so I def prefer the remote backcountry areas and not the areas surrounded with people.

Zoo

Nature & Parks

Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a large sanctuary that provides shelter for various wildlife in need and helps them recover before releasing them back into their natural habitat. This impressive zoo offers visitors an up-close view of animals that they may not have seen before, such as the snow leopard. The bear exhibits are particularly impressive and allow visitors to get closer to these magnificent creatures than ever before.

We enjoyed our visit here. Yes, it's small and yes, the enclosures are way too small for the predator animals like the Mountain Lion & Coyotes. But it's clean and there is a variety of animals to see. The staff were nice. It's a little pricey, but the money goes to a good cause!

Backpacker_ H — Google review

An inexpensive adventure to take in few bears, birds, and a variety of other mountain type animals. Was a bit of a warm day and the animals weren't that active. Recommend going in the morning. Heard some of these animals were recovering. Would have been great to read some background on them. My 2 year old spent half his time playing on the playground equipment 1/2 way through the enclosure. Had a nice souvenir shop. Very nice employees throughout the zoo 👌

Michael B — Google review

The bears were very active. It was amazing to see one of the bears swimming and playing in the water. The bald eagle and the owls were some of my favorite. They have a fun playground for kids. You can buy drinks and small snacks. The gift store has t-shirts, big selection of stuffed animals and other neat toys and gifts. I look forward to visiting this little zoo again!!!

Maria C — Google review

Loved the visit. Yes the compound is not very large, but if you are an animal lover, you can definitely spend more than 60min here! I really liked that I could get within 2m of these majestic animals. Especially liked the snow leopards!

Eric W — Google review

We had a blast with our two year old. It’s a small zoo nestled in the mountains and the views are GORGEOUS. It’s set up so that even toddlers can have a great view into every enclosure and there were a couple of play places. This zoo provides the opportunity to get the closest we’ve been to bears before. Very cool.

Jake N — Google review

Beautiful I was able to see my Favorite animal. Lovely place. I’m from Oc, the drive was great tooo. Go early!! beautiful wolves up close. They were playful too. Great for family to come see and support the zoo. I’m a military vet. Tickets were a great price to afford for average family for $25 my spouse and I were able to enjoy. Baby and kids was free.

Cubankungfuwolf — Google review

Alex was such a friendly and welcoming staff member that provided incredible fun facts about each of their animals. Definitely a great place to visit any time you're in the area.

Jason G — Google review

It was one of the safest clean zoo I've ever been too. Staff was super friendly for sure! Most of the animals weren't out because of the heat. Got to see a bear or 2. Pretty damn sad. Any zoo is sad but this one is tiny but really well kept.

Jo C — Google review

It was a very nice day. It is a very small zoo. It was a beautiful day cool weather and it felt like Winter. I must say the animals were very sluggish. It wasn’t very expensive free parking and $11 dollars for seniors.

Richard P — Google review

It’s a nice small Zoo. There’s not much to do or explore tho. It’s very quiet and small for the price you pay. The cages looked taken care of. Most of the animals were hiding (I don’t blame them). We were done in about 15 minutes. There’s a little playground for little kids to keep them busy for a bit. Gift shop is pricey. Definitely not budget friendly. It should be marketed only as a sanctuary where people can donate. They should add some activities for families in case animals are sleeping or are not in sight.

Evina K — Google review

Hardly saw any animals. It's a nice little zoo but cages look lonely and abandon. It doesn't look like they're natural habitat at all. Poor animals.

Martha R — Google review

Really enjoyed the zoo. It was pretty much exactly what we had envisioned not having been there before. It is definitely the result of much love from the local community and does a great job of introducing one to the local animals. I would highly recommend you take the time to visit this zoo if you ever have the opportunity.

Hardy C — Google review

Was absolutely amazing! Me and some family went on a Wednesday morning, and everything was great! The workers tell you about the animals, and are extremely nice. Animals seem well taken care of and were extremely cute!!! 10/10, would recommend to anyone looking for a nice little zoo to go to!

Audrey H — Google review

I loved seeing the animals!!!! My kids and I saw a lot of animals we've never seen before, up close too was so cool!!! There were a couple animals that didn't have a description or info on them I was disappointed about that but nice Lil zoo with a cute kids play area :) we were there for ì'd say an hour ish? And omg we saw a blonde racoon!!! Lol

Nathania A — Google review

This is a tough rating. I love the concept of saving wild animals and rehabilitating them, but these ppl are so darn good that all animals have been saved and sent back to the wild. This place was empty! Had to buy a dam animal myself to make the place worth it. I do gots to say the restrooms are 10/10! I'm very picky when it comes to bathroom cleaness, but this one was perfectly clean 👌🏻 the gift shop was very neat, that's where I found Edgar the opossum ☺️ he is very photogenic.

Andrea A — Google review

A very very small zoo that one can literally stroll around in 5-10 minutes. We visited on a Thursday a couple of days after the Memorial day when the zoo reopened its door to the public. Many animals are not visible in their exhibit maybe because of the high outdoor temperature. We still managed to see the main attractions, including black bear, grizzly bear, mountain lion, eagles, coyotes and grey wolves, though most of them were taking a nap.The path has very little shade and the high altitude gives a lot of UV. Be sure to have sun protections.

5/18/24:My family decided to come up to Big Bear for the weekend and the zoo was our first stop while we were in town!I highly recommend buying tickets online. Makes it quick and easy at the entry gate. The zoo was small, but perfect. Shaped in a U. Easy to see all the animals. I loved the birds the most but of course my kids loved the bears! 🐻 🦅A small playground is located at the middle point of the zoo. A great feature for the kiddos. My son loved it. The bathrooms were very clean. The gift shop was adorable and so cute! Love the displays and set ups! Bought all my kids a small souvenir for under $60.If you’re here for the first time it’s definitely worth stopping by the zoo. The zookeepers were friendly and the animals look happy! 😊

Cyndi B — Google review

I love this place it was soo fun I saw the bobcats they where so cute but most animals were hiding but the cute and fun I had a great time with my family

Freewe T — Google review

Small and cute zoo, we finished in less than an hour. The highlight was the shiny racoon! I also love the QR codes that lead you to the stories of the animals. Although kids there were a bit out of control, pushing people aside so they get a better viewing spot, howling to the wolfs and stuff, while the parents just stood there and took videos. Please respect other people who also paid to enjoy the zoo.

Yu H — Google review

My husband and I attended the zoo during the weekday toward the end of April. The zoo is known as a safe haven and a rehabilitation center to its wild animals who have been injured, orphaned and or imprinted by humans and can't survive on their own. Each animal is in its own enclosure and a QR code is provided next to their animal sign that provides their unique story that brought them where they are now. The staff is friendly, the gift shop has a variety of merchandise and it takes about an hour to complete the walk through the zoo.

Kimberly M — Google review

Great setup with f all the exhibits for an 1 1/2 hr visit. We found the QR codes at each exhibit did a wonderful job of sharing the stories of each animals journey to the zoo. Detailed information about each habitat was helpful. We especially enjoyed all the bear displays - they were so close to us when viewing.

The animals seem physically healthy and there is a decent variety of American (and from elsewhere) species. Some of the enclosures feel very small for the animals kept inside, however.A nice addition is that most (not sure why not all) enclosures have little QR code placards that you can scan to learn more about the specific animals currently housed at the zoo. My favorite background stories of the day would probably be the story of Pooh, the American black bear and the great honey heist, and the educational explanation about Valentine and her condition that tied in nicely with preservation.Overall, the zoo isn't very large. There is a bathroom, and a gift shop, but no café.Me and my wife had a pleasant time looking at and learning about the different animals and we recommend a visit. However, I think there is little point for visiting a second time due to its limited number of houses animals and other things to do besides looking at the animals in their small enclosures.

Snow Summit is a top choice for winter sports enthusiasts in Big Bear Lake, Southern California. With 33 runs, night riding options, terrain parks, and even a climbing wall, it's a long-running and popular destination. The resort offers over 240 acres of skiable terrain catering to all skill levels from beginners to advanced riders.

If the season is good this is the best resort you can find within 3 hours driving from LA. But always check the traffic if you head to Big Bear village during snowstorm or in holidays otherwise you can stuck in traffic for hours. The resort is good and I’ve got no complaints ever. I’m a huge fan of Snow Summit’s night sessions. Slopes become almost empty and it’s so cool to ride through the forest when the sky is dark and snowing.

This review is for the summer ski lift and trail. The $35 meal and lift deal was a great value. We enjoyed the lift up, but there wasn’t much to do at the top. All the trails were clearly labeled. We walked the one mile trail, which was more hilly than expected, but easy. Great views, but we couldn’t continued on any of the connecting hiking trails because of closures due to past fires. Unfortunately, the noise of the generator was a major detractor from our enjoyment of nature. We ate at the top, and our burger and mac and cheese were delicious. I can definitely see how mountain bikers would love this place, and I enjoyed this one time trip, but I wouldn’t return.

I started my skiing career here! Skiing is so much fun. I met a lot of interesting people! My friends and I took snowboard lessons and the instructor was very experienced. He was super great and taught me exceptionally well! My other friend didn't have a very good experience with the lesson she signed up for though, she didn't feel like she learned a lot. But we all had a great time!

Visited snow summit on a Friday for a hike.Bought a ticket for myself and my daughter. I used my ikon pass all day for food and got one round trip on the chairlift.... summit turns into a bike park during the summer and also has lots of hiking trails. Did a couple trails and picked up lunch on top of the mountain. We had Burgers and fries and it was perfect, lunch with a view. Also, at the bottom they have activities for kidsZipline, Rockwall, bungee trampoline, and you can pan for gold....fun day if you're looking for something to do while I big bear

Snow Summit is an absolute gem for anyone seeking an unforgettable mountain adventure. We recently spent a day there, and it was one of the best experiences we've had in the great outdoors. The slopes at Snow Summit are well-groomed and cater to all levels of skiers and snowboarders. Whether you’re a beginner just starting or an expert looking for a challenge, there's a perfect run for everyone. The variety of trails keeps things exciting and ensures that everyone in our group had a blast. One of the highlights of our visit was the stunning scenery. The panoramic views from the top of the mountain are breathtaking, offering a perfect backdrop for a day of fun and adventure. We took our engagement photos here, and the natural beauty added a magical touch to our special moments. The facilities at Snow Summit are top-notch. The lifts are efficient, minimizing wait times, and the lodges provide a cozy retreat with great food and warm beverages. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help, which adds to the overall positive experience. For those looking for more than just skiing and snowboarding, Snow Summit offers a range of other activities, including snowshoeing and tubing, making it a great destination for families and groups with diverse interests.Overall, Snow Summit is a fantastic destination for a winter getaway. With its well-maintained slopes, stunning views, excellent facilities, and friendly staff, it promises a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy the best of what the mountains have to offer!

Rode mountain bikes here and it was fantastic...first time here, usually go to sky park or snow valley. Plenty of trails, good variety even for the greens and blue riders...will have to bring my son next time.

I loved the place, I went there with my dad, and brother. We all had a fun time, saw the “Red Cross” people skiing down the hill pretty often to ensure safety. Also saw snowmobile used as an emergency, si place is really nice a safe.Only thing I wish is the prices were better when renting equipment, other than that! Great place!

Carlos D — Google review

Love this place. Took ski lessons and had one of the best instructors here. Young, patient, encouraging and passionate about his job.The place is amazing. We caught the last snow this year, I guess. The rental is efficient, the return is effortless, the shop has pretty much everything we will ever need, and the old lady there is amazingly helpful and friendly. We are waiting for the next snow so we can come back again to ski.The only draw back is probably the parking. Some have to move to another parking lot and walk back here. We are lucky to have the last spot in the parking lot right outside the skiing area, the cars after us have to drive to somewhere else and I don’t know hour far it is.It is overall a nice experience. Even though I think it is closes too early, but I know it is for safety either you ski or drive back to the city.Bring your chains if your car is not all-wheel or 4-wheel drive. It is usually $40 to install and about $160 to purchase the chains. And it is cash only by the roadside. Get ready before you go up.

Richard W — Google review

Beautiful place for snowboarding specially after a snow storm, bring chains for your car if needed, check weather conditions, paid parking Friday to Sunday check website for availability, plenty of parking on designated parking lot.

This place was a blast. My first time on a downhill mountain bike, and couldn’t have been more stoked. I rented the bike in the photo along with helmet and pads (crucial) and ripped down the hills with my friend who has been to Snow Summit a few times. The trails were great and the lifts weren’t too busy, so we were able to get in as many runs as we could handle. 10/10 would return! Highly recommend.

John R — Google review

What's not to love about this place. Snowboarding only 2 hours away from Los Angeles. Night time was very icy but the day was good. I really enjoy the mix of runs available with ramps and boxes to try different things. You can also enjoy the beautiful lake as you head down the mountain.

Greg P — Google review

It had been years since we skied here. We typically ski in Mammoth. We have the Ikonpass and Big Bear is only 2 1/2 hours from home. This was our first ski trip for this season and we went at the end of January. We went on a Friday and we didn’t realize that they charge for parking close to the resort. There is free parking farther down and there is free shuttle service. There is a long wait for the shuttle. Snow Summit is bigger than Bear Mountain & the lodges are nicer. There seems to be less snowboarders than Bear Mountain that I like.

I have some positive reviews to leave for my families lesson on 3/09/24! Firstly, the kids academy was absolutely outstanding! Fromthe morning when I addressed concerns about my son on his first time skiing the staff put me at ease! After that first session, my son came back and told me “ I love this and can’t wait to do the afternoon session.” The second session he had Rick- and he was absolutely amazing with Conner! First impressions are so very important to a child adapting to a new sport, and this academy did an absolutely wonderful job of making a positive first experience outstanding!!! Thank you to the Kids academy!!Now for my experience, I had not went skiing for 35 years. I went to the second timers class. Within 5 seconds of getting off the magic carpet I was in the snow. Glen O. came over and helped me. He became my teacher for the next couple hours. He helped me overcome my anxiety, calmed my nerves and taught me in an outstanding fashion! After my lesson I actually went up to Summit Run x2 and only fell once! It was because of the excellent teaching that I was able to do this comfortably and with confidence! My husband had Lyle- who taught him fantastically as well! I can’t speak highly enough for all the teachers we had on 3/9/2024!

I am an intermediate skier and went solo for the first time. It snowed the day prior so enough snow I didn't have to worry about scraping or anything. Runs were well manicured, with lifts all open, and not crazy busy. I did about 15 runs without incident. The people were friendly and overall pretty curious on the slopes, so a great day! Did I mention the view? Wow. Snow, lifts, lake, just beautiful. Nice warming restaurant - buffet pick up style, quick food, and a fire all inside should you choose. Outside has Adirondack wooden chairs around to "chill" in. Lol. Lift ticket pricing, well... You know everything can't be perfect.

Tammi C — Google review

Great resort. Stayed for the night session and was pretty well lit, some shadowy areas but just remove goggles and be fine. Way less people after 4 so highly recommended doing night session.

Dante — Google review

I visited snow summit for the first time on a Friday and luckily it wasn't packed. Food was pricey and okay. Drinks were pricey but better than the food. Lift prices are a bit high but for every once in a while, it seems fair. Pretty views of the lake and helpful employees

Been there before for snowboarding. First time for mountain biking. Have gone to Snow valley in the past. We rented 3 downhill bikes and the entire experience was amazing. Well groomed trails with good variety for me and 2 boys (19 and 13). Staff at bike rental area were fast and nice. Chairlift operators helpful. Son skinned his knee pretty bad and nurse at base was super kind and helpful in cleaning him up. Price of tickets very reasonable and good value. Bike rental prices too much IMO. 129 each plus 20Insurance. Ended up being ~$200 per person for bikes plus tickets. Other than the cost, fantastic experience. Highly recommend.

First time on the slopes as a beginner. They have a Starbucks, a restaurant, and a fire pit outside to warm up. The staff is friendly and they have lessons for beginners for a separate fee. You can rent gear as well.

Outdoor Activities

Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is a desert oasis and wildlife habitat located near Joshua Tree National Park and Palm Springs. The preserve offers scenic trails, a butterfly garden, and an education center. Visitors can explore various trails with different levels of difficulty, including boardwalk trails suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. The area is known for its diverse wildlife, making it a paradise for birdwatching enthusiasts. Additionally, the information center provides maps and detailed information about the flora and fauna found along the trails.

The Big Morongo Canyon Preserve had no entrance fee, free parking, and was easy to get to. I visited in late March 2022. I liked that they had a one way path and you could choose the length of your walk. The trails were loops but interconnected, so you just had to follow the map provided online or at entrance. This walk included a marsh area and views of the snow topped mountains. We did not walk the 9 mile Canyon Trail. We started with the Marsh Trail, then hopped onto Mesquite Trail, then Desert Willow Trail back to parking lot. Our trails of choice were kid and senior citizen friendly.

Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is an internationally recognized birding site. It is situated close to the border of Riverside and San Bernardino counties. The Preserve is part of Sand to Snow National Monument. It is open from 7:30 AM to sunset. The Preserve has clearly marked walking trails, the Nature Center, and information kiosk. The personnel and volunteers who work at the Preserve are very knowledgeable and friendly. There are 258 different avian species recorded at the Preserve and adjacent Covington Park. That place is a birding photographer paradise because it's easy to have a very productive day by just sitting near the bird feeders. There are picnic tables and toilets near the parking lot and Nature Center.Everyone's favorite there is a Vermilion Flycatcher. In the spring time, there are Western and Summer Tanagers, Orioles, and many other beautiful species. The Preserve is one of my favorite birding sites in California.

Alexander V — Google review

This is a gorgeous preserve! As amateur birders we were able to see many as we hiked, and the paths and trails were a pleasure to walk on. Nothing was too tricky or challenging, and the seating areas and benches were convenient and made it easy to relax for a few.

I love Big Morongo Canyon Preserve. One of my favorite place to hike. A forest in the desert. Great place for nature lovers.

Lourmie S — Google review

We had a great time here on the first Friday of Spring. So many trails to choose from but we prefer the areas with the boardwalk. Plenty of sitting areas to take a break and enjoy the birds. Bring your binoculars!

Tina C — Google review

We went in Summer and did the shady path walks, it is so nice... there are places to sit along the walk...we had a little picnic on a bench, the scenery is so pretty here! We played the Bingo sheet game, marking off all the things we saw, our 4 year old loves this! In Summer the small path walks are cool, under trees and shade mostly....in Fall is a must visit, all the fallen leaves are so amazing!!

Josie J — Google review

What a great place to adventure on different trails. Well set up for you to understand the length, ease, or difficulty of the trail(s) you select. The information center at the beginning of the trails has maps and tons of information for you to enjoy along the trails. Definitely check that out first so you know what to look for. Lots of information on animals, foliage, and insects for you to identify. The views are so beautiful! Make sure you stop alon the way to take it all in. Another great thing is there's plenty of resting spots with benches set up to take in these great views. I also loved how a lot of the foliage is marked along the way so one can know what they're looking at. No dogs are allowed here, but I completely understand why. There's way too many holes and possibilities for dogs to be hurt or disrupt the land.

CarefullyPlated — Google review

Beautiful trails with lots of flora diversity and hundreds of bird species. Plus there are about six different trails to choose from, including one that is almost all a boardwalk. I will be back here to hike some of the other trails next season.

A hidden gem. Green oasis with lots of shade. Perfect in the hotter months for a nice walk and if you come early you'll see a lot of wildlife.

Sander S — Google review

Lovely trails, great scenery, and we appreciate the accessible walkways. My mom uses a walker, and she found it easy to get around.

Allan B — Google review

We visited in March, what a great place for birding. Vermilion flycatchers are as red as in the photos. I couldn’t get a good one to share. But truly a wonderful place to visit. March weather is mild and comfortable.

W C — Google review

Been here twice now. Beautiful trails and diverse wildlife. Just wish the signage was a bit better

Alycia M — Google review

I was looking for easier walks with some shade and stumbled upon the Preserve. What a great find. There is even one walk on a boardwalk for strollers or wheelchairs. And other walks that put you on trails. Benches here and there to sit and enjoy the birds. All well signed, maps at the kiosk. Parking & picnic tables. A birding paradise. I saw many people w big binoculars and cameras. They help fund by donations and also take your recyclable cans to fund the place. I saw lizards, birds, & rabbits. You might want bug dope with you, lots of insects are attracted to this natural area.

Martha C — Google review

Just a great experience! Been to JTNP many times and wanted to get to know the Morongo Valley more. Donated money at the birdseed donation box because that was awesome! A gem of a place to hike at any ability level. Excellent maps and trail markings, and one trail is all boardwalk for complete accessibility! Great wildlife viewing opportunities especially toward evening with this heat. Info center is awesome - read it all before you go so you know what you are seeing! Will come back to check out the rest of the trails! We did two yesterday. 👣

Stacie T — Google review

This is a relatively easy hike less than an hour away from the low desert cities. Higher elevation so the vegetation is more lush and wildlife opportunities greater. Overall quite enjoyable.

Dan G — Google review

This is such a beautiful lush place. Surprisingly green and wild. World class bird watching, excellent place for viewing wildlife. Lots of deer, some bear and big horned sheep maybe spotted on one of trails.

Chakra K — Google review

Absolutely loved our time at the Preserve. It's a really beautiful area for a nice walk. Amongst other great bird sightings, it was amazing to see a pair of Vermillion Flycatchers in the car park.We enjoyed meeting the volunteers who tend to the Preserve and help visitors with bird identification at the Nature Center.

Nancy T — Google review

Beautiful spot with lush trees, lots of wildlife and the nicest staff and naturalists!

Monica R — Google review

I came here because I heard there was a great variety of birds and I was looking for different hiking options than I was getting in the Palm Springs area. I am really glad I did. The hiking trails were mostly flat except the Yucca Ridge trail which was personally my favorite. The views were great and the signs every where we easy to follow. My favorite trail was the Canyon Trail that you can take for up to 8 miles. I just did 2.5 out and back and it was beautiful. A couple of the trails were closed off due to damage from a storm but it is still worth the trip. I use the Merlin app for birding and I got six new birds from this trip alone. Plus the trails are free but there is a donation box so help out a little bit for the amazing trails. Siri directions will not get you to the right spot so use google!

Jason H — Google review

The Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain is an all-year-round entertainment center, featuring winter bobsled tracks and summer water slides. The facility can be accessed via a chairlift and offers a range of activities for families to enjoy, including skiing, snow tubing, and building snowmen. It's located just a couple of hours away from Los Angeles and boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding area. If you're traveling with children, they'll love the experience too!

Great place to do a variety of things with the family. From the slides, the coaster, water slides, zipline, video games, and food court. Be aware, that if you tried to do everything in a day, you may spend more here than you would at Disneyland. But, if you're looking for some fun in the mountains, this is a great stop.We went on a Sunday, I'm sure Saturday's are much busier. There isn't any entry fee, you pay for each individual ride you decide to participate in. So it's nice in that aspect especially if you're on a budget or just want to do a quick ride on one thing and move on.

This place was super fun!! We went down almost all the different attractions and everything we did was great! The go karts were in to small of a track and didn't go fast enough. But everything else was cool! They were fairly easygoing and helped somewhat with our handicap son. I think some of the lines' ques could have been a little easier to navigate with a wheelchair be we managed....

Eric S — Google review

Very fun. It's one of the best things to in Big Bear. However the prices are very steep. Like Seriously, 12$ for a short Zipline Like experience and the coaster was also highly priced. Though it was an enjoyable experience that I think you should go if you can afford, just keep in mind that if you do most of the activities with a family it can get very pricey.

Nicolas M — Google review

Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain was really fun. The Mineshaft Coaster was amazing, & was a coaster that surprised me, with the crazy turns & nothing but a seat belt. The price was $20 per person, which was a bit expensive, but it was pretty fun, and I think it was worth the experience. I also went on Soaring Eagle, and it was good, but as a note, the prices were raised from $10 per person to $12. The Soaring Eagle was pretty fast, and the ride was crazy, but in the end, it definently made a loud sound. Overall, it's a solid ride, but the prices are a bit much. I would go on the Soaring Eagle once, but with the prices, I probably won't go on the Soaring Eagle again. Good place. it just needs to lower prices a tad bit. I went on Labor Day Weekend, but I went 15 minutes before it opened. As long as you arrive early, you will be good to go, and I was the first one of the day to get on the Alpine Coaster. You walk through the kiosk and sign the waiver with a screen, & you get a wristband in order to participate in any rides. The tickets are by each attraction. The Alpine Slide & Water Slide is located past the building, & the Soaring Eagle, Go-Karts, & Mini Golf are located from the parking lot on the right side of the building. The Mineshaft Coaster is by the kiosk & is past the helix next to the parking lot exit. There are brochures located at the kiosk & at Mineshaft Coaster. Finally, you can not buy tickets online.

Gavin — Google review

Overpriced and overrated. $20 for one ride on the roller coaster. $9 per go cart ride. $9 per slide down the hill. $9 per trip for snow tubing. You will spend as much as you would at Disneyland. No good food options. One particular staff member made me so mad, I was almost willing to catch an assault charge but there was no snow this Thanksgiving week so I had no choice but to let my kids play all day there.

Jimmy P — Google review

This was our furst time visiting. The staff was super friendly. The mountain coaster was a lot of fun and the views of Big Bear Lake were amazing. They also have a small foodcourt and arcade area with an accesible bathroom. Will definitely come again if we visit Big Bear Lake.

Wendhy J — Google review

Such very friendly employees. The little arcade and snack bar was in serious disrepair, but we ignored that area and went on the alpine slide and mineshaft coaster. Both were a lot of fun and worth the price. We had two 12 year olds with us and they both said they would do it again and had a blast. Plenty of free parking as well!

Ryan P — Google review

Came here this past weekend with some friends who were visiting from out of town and it was an amazing experience! None of us had ever gone down an alpine slide and I must say it was exhilarating! It was super fun to be able to “race” my wife and ride down together side by side. Another amazing perk is that you get to ride up a lift and the views are phenomenal!

Silas S — Google review

I'm giving them a three because it is frustrating that you have to go to 3 different places to buy tickets. They should have one designated area to buy tickets for all the events. It feels like there are three separate owners working on one location. From a business standpoint, they would be able to make more revenue by creating package deals if there was oly one area to buy tickets.

Ron Q — Google review

A fun family place to enjoy year-round. There is a thrill ride coaster (photos and videos can be purchased of coaster experience) mini golf, soaring eagle ride and water slides. Prices vary depending on what one chooses to do but there is a kiosk with a waiver all must sign first. The main building has the restrooms, arcade games and variety of food options that can be purchased. My husband and I attended during a weekday at the end of April so there were less people than usual. We had no wait times but their water slide/pool seemed to be under renovations. Definitely recommend though!

Kimberly M — Google review

We visited on New Year's Day and waited 45 minutes to sign the waivers. Then we went and bought tickets which was a quick line. Only thing is you buy the day pass for almost $50 and then the chair lift is an add on, as is the rollercoaster. So it is not an all inclusive ticket. It could get very pricey with all of those combined. The arcade is lacking with approximately only 10 games, several of which were broken. The inside is small and basic, some picnic tables outside. But they sell churros! Yum! (I think $4 each). All in all it felt like a bit of a rip off and the long wait did not help. But hopefully it is shorter and quicker on a non holiday. The kids loved the tubing and chair lift to the sledding tube, however, so all was not lost!

Grace B — Google review

This was such a great place to spend the day with the family. They have great snow tubing and other rides also. There is a roller coaster, zip line, bumper cars, and slide long slide to go down on a little sled. There is a place to order food and drinks and a restroom inside. Everything is a separate price and the lines do get long in the early afternoon. Go early to beat the crowds.

A very fun outdoor theme park in big bear. Alpine slide at magic mountain has some very good rides, especially the mine shaft coaster. The karting is also a good option. We came here during our road trip in california. It was a very hot sunny day

Fonouvdior — Google review

This is a cool place for the kids. We visited this weekend 5/19/24. The kids had about an hour of fun at a cost of $300 (3kids.)A few things: it’s definitely worth experiencing the slide. But hits the bank and hard. $40 for 5 slides. At the slide lift, the 60something year old employee took all my coupons and only 4 people rode. I had to ask him to give me the 5th coupon back so we could use it. Was definitely put off by that. The food is $14 for a hot dog meal $16 for a burger.. didn’t eat here tho.My 3 kids rode each these things ONE time for the money we paid: the slide, coaster, zip line and a round of go carts for my littlest one. $300! It’s not worth that much in my opinion.Roller coaster was $20 per rider.Go carts were $9 per rider.Zip line- $12Half the arcade games are broken. Each ride has a separate ticket line and you have to purchase tickets for said ride at its own kiosk. So 4-5 separate charges. I didn’t see a wrist band option. Seems like each ride may be individually owned. But the owners need to come together so you don’t have to purchase tickets for each ride separately. It would be easier for the customer and reduce lines. ( we went right when they opened on a Sunday- lines weren’t bad for us)Whatever video card thing they use to capture moments on the ride didn’t work for us. Nothing loaded when we went to try to see the video.Employees seemed not so enthusiastic to be there. Especially for a kid amusement type place. One was even smoking at the midpoint watch station of the slide. Blatantly too. Smoke blowing everywhere.Summary: a very expensive, mediocre place targeting tourists for a high price for little entertainment. If you do go, i suggest going right when they open. Your kids will have fun. Your wallet may be hurting.

Cyndi B — Google review

I liked the atmosphere and the games, but the tiring thing is when you waiting to take a line to get a ticket for ride and when you take the line for waiver, is very long, it takes an hour and more , and in the end you will play one game a day, and at 4 pm they close . we played in the snow for one hour for three persons . It cost $140.games are expensive there.

AWz — Google review

We had so much fun! The activities were a little pricey but definitely worth it. We spent one afternoon tubing and the next day we rode the eagle and the alpine coaster and all of the activities were a blast!Sign your waivers before getting in line or they will not let you participate. We got a cabin within walking distance so we didn't have to hassle with parking which seemed pretty full on weekends.

One of the very few places to go snow tubing during the winter when there's no snow, thanks to their snow machines. Came here for the snow tubing. Everyone loved it.It gets busy pretty early. By noon, the parking lot was full. Entrance for tubing was $45 a person. It includes tubes and lift. Hanging out in the food area and outside the play area is free. They do have other types of rides. Went in the Coaster and it was amazingly fun, way better than a ride at an amusement park. There wasn't much seating in the eating area for how busy it got. But the food was a decent price and good for a small snack bar.It was well worth the time and money to get away from the city. The drive was beautiful, with lots of trees and a huge lake. You could also spend part of the day at the city center.I would recommend this place, especially if you have kids. They seem to love the snow.

Awesome place. At the time it is $9 per slide and 5 slides for $40 I think (forgot). You have to sign a waiver just in case you fly out so expect to add maybe 10 more minutes before you can even slide. After that you take the lift to the top and choose your cart to go down with. They look worn but it didn't matter when I used mine. At the top, you can choose from 2 lanes. One is meant for slower sliders but it's the same parallel track. They instruct you how to use the brakes and you're off. That simple. Just as a note, it can pick up speed quick so careful not to fly out the track and have fun!I didn't record going down but I'll update it next time I go for sure.Worth it and you can gain some speed if you really want to.

What a fun little spot! We didn't even know this existed except for having driven past it! We stayed in a cabin nearby and elected to go here to see what they had available the next morning. The Alpine side was a lot funner than we had expected and we actually liked it better than the coaster! They both are about the same price, and I felt more secure on the slide versus the coaster. It was somewhat busy for a summer day, but nothing crazy and we didn't have to wait in line at all to get on the slides.PSA on a hot sunny day make sure you wear sunblock though, I got a bit of a burn lol

The Cafe at Shields is a charming spot offering Mexican-inspired breakfast and lunch options, with the added bonus of outdoor seating under white umbrellas. Located within the Shields Date Garden, this cafe is part of a 17-acre farm and garden that underwent extensive renovations between 2011 and 2013. Visitors can leisurely explore the picturesque surroundings, which include 23 biblical statues depicting scenes from the life of Jesus Christ.

There is no OBVIOUS entrance to the restaurant, don’t hesitate to ask staff for directions, it is behind the building and there is an arch on the right side too.The food and service were great! Quiet, peaceful, you can here the fountain… Romantic spot.

We enjoyed the food at The Cafe at Shields Garden. We sat outside which was shaded by umbrellas. The menu was extensive offering both Breakfast and Lunch items. I tried Date Pancakes. They had a subtle date flavor and were served with fresh dates and date butter. Fish Tacos were enjoyed by my husband. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful spot nestled into the desert oasis. Outdoor seating for most. Service was amazing, and it was busy. The walk was nice and the shop has tons of goodies. The food was amazing. We started with the stuffed, bacon wrapped dates...delish! Chicken and waffles were outstanding. Highly recommended, enjoy!

We had lunch with some friends and the wait staff at the cafe could not have been nicer. The food was good, the atmosphere was very nice, but the staff was exceptional. I highly recommend this cafe if ya want to have a lunch get together with friends, or if you just want a pleasant relaxing afternoon get away at a cafe with a wonderful ambiance. Just another one of the many hidden gems here in the Coachella Valley.

The omlette with dates in it is HEAVENLY!!! The staff was friendly and attentive. I enjoy eating here every time I visit Palm Desert.

Very kind wait staff. We're greeted at the door immediately and asked to take a seat wherever we liked either outdoor or inside. Was a bit humid outside but they had the misters on even early in the morning which helped when the breeze blew our way. Tables were clean, drinks and further service was prompt. I don't remember the name, but my breakfast chips dish was unexpectedly great. The biscuits and gravy had a very unique sauce as well. The chorizo as a side was a bit different than I normally am used to eating, but being homemade it was good in its own way. Eggs were cooked exactly how we asked them to be as well. The country potatoes were cut in bite sized chunks but not really flavored much. That's the only slight hit for me. Again, the multiple staff who hosted us were very attentive with drink refills and checking up on us throughout, yet not very pushy or annoying even when it came time to pay the bill. The place just looked a bit old and partially under construction which is the only reason for 4 stars.

I have driven over 80 miles just to have their date burger. It is without a doubt the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten. I’m not one to put anything extra on my hamburger but the dates and blue cheese and the way they fix it is out of this world. Accompanied by fresh fruit and great service

Early morning breakfast, I came with friends at 8:30am and was only the 2nd people here...by the time I left it was completely full, no tables by 10:30am. They have plenty of parking with overflow parking on the east side of the parking lot under the palm trees. The service and our waiter were amazing, we were served fast, and our server was attentive to our needs, there was 8 of us, so we used 2 tables. Breakfast was good, nothing fancy, just good breakfast. The grounds are beautiful, and the weather was nice for an early morning breakfast with friends...side note....it is Fly season and they were out in abundance trying to catch a bite so be aware of the pesky things.

We live right behind shields and have never been there! It was excellent! They seated us quickly, server took a little longer than desired to greet us, but they were busy! The food was excellent but a little pricy for three. After the delicious meal, we walked the grounds. Beautiful beautiful beautiful! Will return!

Step back in time, enjoy a date shake, have lunch in the cafe, walk through the date grove and botanical gardens that have 23 sculptures that depict the life of Christ. Sample every kind of date imaginable. Watch a free movie about dates. Sit up at the 1960 shake counter and sip on a shake. Shields has been open for 100 years. It gets crowded, there is plenty of free parking.

We had a very yummy lunch. We sat on the patio which was lovely. The weather was perfect that day. I had the benedict with fruit on the side, it was delicious. The grounds were nice to walk around. The date shakes were also a must have!! Our young kids enjoyed it too.

Date shake amazing and bomb. Delicious varieties of date kinds that haven't heard about before. Only one thing was hot and busy. Other than that, all was an excellent experience

We went here as a group of five. We had to wait a bit to be seated (which is understandable as the spot is popular), we took that time to take a walk around the farm and by the time we were done, our table was ready. The dishes are mostly Mexican or Mexican-inspired and everything was flavourful. The entrees came in large portions. If you eat pork, you must try the bacon wrapped dates (oh my, 10/10). I would be remiss if I did not mention how kind, attentive and courteous all the servers are. I can’t wait to come back here :-)

Indian Wells Tennis Garden is a world-renowned sporting complex that features 29 hard courts and a 16,000-seat stadium where the prestigious BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament takes place. The venue also hosts live music performances, car shows, arts festivals, and other entertainment events throughout the year. Additionally, it offers a state-of-the-art fitness center, a full-service spa, and various tennis membership programs.

This is a great venue for a world class tennis tournament. The facilities are top notch. The service is top notch. They take pride in the event and it shows. The food is very good to top notch.Getting in the property is cumbersome with the vaccination requirement. It is a pain, but we appreciate not having to wear a mask.

I’ve always wanted to visit this tennis stadium. It looks massive on TV, but inside, every seat—even the high ones—offers a great view of the court. I can't wait to come back and watch a match!

Cihan A — Google review

Well… what more can be said? If you’re a fan of ATP or WTA tennis… you already know what you’re getting yourself into if you choose to visit this place. Indian Wells Tennis Garden is a massive campus with many nice courts. It was VERY hot outside when we visited (pushing 110 F if I remember correctly), but worth the pilgrimage. I saw multiple people come and go through the walking gate and I knew it was open to the public so I decided to walk in and grab a few photos (including Stadium 1, Stadium 2, and the Welby Wall). I even got to take a few “shadow swings” with my imaginary racket on one of the practice courts. Unknowing I was trespassing, I got caught by security when I was on my way out of the facility. But the interaction was civil and handled professionally by their security team. Based on that, I would maybe check to make sure you’re visiting during open hours. I’m unsure but you may even be able to see more of the facility than I did (like the pro shop and inside the stadiums).

Adam S — Google review

One of the best, if not the best, tennis centers I’ve ever been. The courts are amazingly well maintained, the tennis pros are excellent, the personnel is very friendly. For us tennis players it’s like going to the closest place to tennis heaven in earth.

Amazing to play on the courts that the pros play on! The views are spectacular too. The staff are very helpful and can set up matches. It has everything you need.

My experience at the Indian Wells 2024 was nothing short of exhilarating! From the moment I stepped into the stadium, I was swept up in the electrifying atmosphere of world-class tennis. The matches themselves were incredibly intense and exciting. Watching top-ranked players battle it out on the court was a truly unforgettable experience. The energy from the crowd was palpable, adding to the thrill of the competition.

Timur B — Google review

Referred to as the 5th major on the pro tennis circuit, this is one special venue for a sporting event! I have attended the tournament in past years. In March for 2 weeks, the best in men's and women's tennis put on a competitive show. 7 rounds are played and when you are watching tennis you sit very still and quiet. Then you hear the roars and it is a goose bump moment. It can get expensive in the lower seats, but bring binoculars and you get a top down view up high at a more reasonable price! When you walk the grounds, you really feel this is a special place. The best restaurants serve here and there are tents loaded with tennis gear to cameras. The backdrop of the Santa Rosa mountains at dusk is over the top!

Kevin K — Google review

Unfortunately the Indian Wells MastersTournament has been postponed this year, but it was super cool to check the place out. If you love tennis, this is definitely a place to visit.Back here again 2 years later, 2 months before the Indian Wells Masters Tournament. Still as cool as ever! Coming here during sunset is absolutely amazing.

Diana G — Google review

Indian Wells is always an amazing place. Everything from the stadium to watching at the suite and level is amazing. The food and amenities are some of the best at any sporting venue. The staff is always friendly and so are all the volunteers. You can tell everyone takes so much pride in making sure this event is successful. Every single year you get a chance to watch some of the best tennis players in the world at a an amazing class facility. This is why so many fans come to Indian Wells every year and skip going to other tournaments. Definitely recommend for both average tennis fans to the extreme tennis fans to come and take part.

Hassan H — Google review

Just went for a brief look at the place. Definitely set up for ultimate tennis experiences.

Steven D — Google review

THIS venue is insane. It's like a theme park for adults. Architectural design alone gives this place a 5. Add Sun, palm trees, sunsets, good food x 10, a little alcohol and tennis and you have an 11.5. I'll go back as many times as they'll let me. 😉

Kenneth O — Google review

Our third visit to the BNP! We have also been to Wimbledon and US Open. This is by far our favorite! The first week especially! You can easily see lots of great tennis on a day pass, but go to the special event at the beginning of the tourney with the big hitters! Also reserve a couple days on court 2!

Ron E — Google review

Our first time here, very impressed with the place but will have to agree with other reviews regarding policy on bags. I read the policy about a clear plastic bag and the size of the purse. My sister in law used a small bag and she was stopped because according to their measurement- it was too big so she had to bring it back to the car. But yet we saw a few with purses the same size as hers. I ended up buying clear plastic bags for me and my sister in law so we won't have any issues the next day. There is inconsistency with this policy.

It was a pleasure to see your favourite players live on the central courts. It's a big garden with 7-9 courts with two center courts for star players. Even by seating on the outer rims, it was a nice experience overall. Prices are high obviously but good for once in a lifetime experience. Expect high queues on weekends. Free parking is made available during tournaments.

A wonderful and exciting place to be during the BNP Paribas. The entire gardens are beautiful, shopping, food, and tennis courts to see your favorite tennis players. One of my favorites, Aryna Sabalenka, was amazing to watch. She has an incredible serve and high ball toss. She fought hard for the qualifying win against Peyton Sterns. Sitting just four rows back from center court was amazing. Had Bill Gates 14 seats over.Be prepared to do lots of walking from parking and then I to the tennis garden.

Stadium Tour Series (Indian Wells Tennis Garden), Part 1Often referred to as “Tennis Paradise”, this venue features 29 hard courts including Stadium 1 which seats 16,000 people.Although open to the public year round, it is during each March that it showcases the world’s most accomplished men and women professional players during the simultaneous ATP and WTA events. The shockingly close proximity to such great players is a rare treat (including marveling at such things as a 143 mph serve)! 🚀While Stadium Courts 1 and 2 are where the very best players are typically featured, those tickets can be pricey. On the other end of the financial spectrum, the field courts offer incredible value when viewing not only tomorrow’s next generation of professionals, but also today’s very best as they hone their craft on the practice courts in pursuit of hoisting a trophy during the final weekend of play.Since our last visit a few years ago, the tournament now offers complimentary daily musical performances between the day and evening sessions. For us that meant enjoying the eclectic duo of Kevin Cronin (lead singer of REO Speedwagon) and Mats Wilander (7-time Grand Slam Champion).Parking was free for the first time that we’ve attended, but there are a few cautions that you should be aware of. Be prepared for a bit of a hike from the lot to the stadium grounds (on uneven surfaces for those utilizing wheelchairs, strollers, or walking canes). Also be prepared that the legion of staff that direct you when parking your vehicle will be long gone by the time you depart (it took us 25 minutes to navigate the ensuing chaos when exiting the lot at the end of the night). And that’s…Henry’s Take.#tennisparadise

The Palm Springs Air Museum is a historical attraction in Palm Springs that features exhibits on aircraft from World War II, Korean, and Vietnam war eras. The museum is housed inside a climate-controlled facility and provides visitors with an immersive experience of aviation history.

No words to explain how amazing this place is!! It’s a very surreal experience, and the people who work and volunteer there are wonderful. There are many workers there who were soldiers themselves, and hearing their knowledge is something I’m grateful for. The planes are breathtaking and the displays of knowledge and artifacts engage oneself. They also have a library of Life magazines, how cool! Highly recommended taking anyone there!!

Bianca S — Google review

We visited the Palm Springs Air Museum during the last week of September and were beyond impressed! We were excited before our visit because we tend to like museums, and planes are neat to look at, but we were blown away by how large the museum actually is! The staff are welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. We stayed for about 3.5 hours, but you could easily spend an entire day here. We will be talking about our visit for a long time!

Morgan S — Google review

Great museum with amazing detail. You could spend a full day here going through all the exhibits and displays. Lots to see and do for all ages. You can tell the volunteers and mechanics/engineers have spent a lot of time restoring aircraft. Well worth a visit if you are in the Palm Springs area.

David W — Google review

This place is so neat and unique for an air museum. One thing they do here is work to preserve every plane in working order. They have volunteer mechanics that are constantly working on them. It’s really special and important to preserve this piece of history and the museum is doing a great job. Many of the volunteers at the museum are also Veterans and are really neat, knowledgeable men and women to speak with. They have an impressive aircraft fleet so don’t miss this one!

Great experience. Very helpful volunteers. I actually spent about 3 hours here. An informative diorama about Pearl Harbor. Lots and lots of planes. They have a great WW2 exhibit, a women in flight exhibit. They even have a Walt Disney plane exhibit.

I don't give away 5 stars. And when I do.Service service service. We never had to guess. Staff was unbelievable. Very knowledgeable and very patient. Especially my 12 year old on the flight simulator. I haven't seen a lot of these planes.A couple of these planes flew i front of us in Iraq. It was a treat to see some of them up close as I only read about them growing up... especially the Memphis Belle, although the original is in Ohio, this movie version was a real doozy. We we happy, very informative self guided tours. The display were not boring at all.

Fatih S — Google review

Very impressive array of aircraft and simulators. Kids are free which is especially easy on the wallet. The F-117A is definitely the highlight of the selection. The B-17 was also impressive and the guided tour for the kids was great. Could have spent much more than 2 hours there. Highly recommended for plane buffs and visitors in general.

Excellent staff - Knowledgeable and kind. Great planes. Very entertaining slight simulator with a former pilot who spend much time to introduce my son to the instruments, the physics and flying. We overall spend seven hours in two days and highly recommend this place.

Definitely a Must!! Huge variety of top-notch, rare planes, helicopters and cars. They are one of a few museums to have a Stealth 117 Nighthawk airplane and a B-17!! A wonderful collection. They also have magnificent, knowledgeable, friendly docents around each exhibit area! (Plan accordingly, a lot of outdoor planes to see, might be Hot during certain months.) Enjoy, and appreciate those who served.

Jen M — Google review

The Palm Springs Air Museum offers an enriching experience for both kids and adults alike. The abundance of World War history, especially surrounding the pilots and crews of the B-17, is truly captivating. The volunteers are incredibly helpful, enhancing the overall visit with their knowledge and assistance. Having recently watched "Masters of the Air," the experience was even more profound, gaining a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made during WWII. With so much to explore, it's advisable to allocate a few hours to fully immerse oneself in the museum's exhibits. Overall, a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and families alike.

Went here yesterday with my nephew who is a commercial airline pilot. We loved it. There are so many classics and beautifully restored planes and the volunteer staff are all so helpful and knowledgeable. This really is a first class air museum - definitely worth a visit.

Michael G — Google review

Clean, neat, well curated. I've been to a lot of air museums across the country, and nothing is worse than seeing a bunch of dirty, run-down aircraft with no information signage. That is not a problem at the Palm Springs Air museum! The staff and volunteers are present, and clearly take pride in their treasures. The aircraft are fabulous, and even while in maintenance they are on display, so you can see cowlings removed and neatly arranged, smell the oil and lubricants, and just get the whole experience. Thanks to the staff and volunteers for a few hours of quality plane and history time.

Kurt W — Google review

Amazing place where history comes to live - almost all planes on display are air worthy and they do fly them! The staff and its plane collection is phenomenal and priceless! Worth the drive to visit if you live in Los Angeles- and great venue for BartenderGirl to do events

This is an amazing experience, the guides are extremely knowledgeable and fun. The planes and exhibits are in fabulous shape. This is truly a spot you have to visit and support. I am amazed at what these veterans and teenagers went through for our country. It helped me to have a different feeling and meaning, "Thank you for your service."

Eric D — Google review

This place is awesome. If you like history on WW2 this place has some good information on the type of aircrafts that were used during that time. Such a unique place and not just that its right across from the airport where you get to see planes taking off and landing.

Adonai M — Google review

A hidden gem in a mid of Colorado desert. We stopped by during the trip to LAX. The high score on Google reviews doesn’t lie. It worths the time and ticket price. Many patient and knowledgeable seniors, many I believe are veterans, always share their wisdom and insights behind all these wartime aircrafts. I learned an aircraft was being towed during my visit was under Lake Michigan for more than 50 years as a training fighter jet for WWII. There are six exhibits covering different war eras when different aircrafts were actively fighting on the battlefield. My favorite part is always the human stories behind the historical events. The collections of military mental band reminds all the sons and daughters of everyday people like myself. And the brutal history of humankind. Highly recommended for Modern War history and military fans.

Ben D — Google review

This place was awesome. There is an awful lot of history here you can learn a lot. This is a great collection of airplanes and other stuff that you might not see in other places. The volunteers here are also awesome they have a lot of knowledge of the plains and everything else most of them have actually been in the planes flying them.

This place is a RIP off... they charged my kids the same price for 2 different tattoos.. one kid had 2 small turtles and the other had both hands done... they were both bad , quickly done didnt look anything like the pic they showed. wouldn't re-do or give the money back... live the street fair but I will never go back to the henna place and do not recommend anyone to go there unless they have the gentleman do the work.

Never been to the fair before had a great time love the food. The vendors just great and I will be back.

Robin B — Google review

Awesome street fair in Palm Springs! Every Thursday locals gather to showcase their businesses. Food, art, music, and much more as you walk down the street. Vendors are offering free samples and the food is impressive. We purchased mini donuts which were heavenly. We also got clam chowder that was prefect for the chilly evening! Going back next week to try more foods!

Brittany G — Google review

Not the office, Villagefest itself. No longer glamorous, Palm Springs is no longer interesting, mostly just hucksters trying to pawn off clip art as originals for $500-$9000 and other junk sellers. A few bright lights among the (some awful) live musicians: the wonderful sounding Native man playing wood flutes, etc. Buy a CD. How do you find downtown Palm Springs? It's where the Walgreens and Motel 6's get closer together. But seriously, if you're not over 80 you probably don't want to be here (and probably if you're 80+ as well).

A must see, must experience in the area! Great way to spend your night. Best burgers in town are in a tent in town! Run! Don't walk. Fun night!

The Palm Springs Art Museum is a prestigious heritage-rich museum that features world-renowned artworks from different periods and genres. The permanent collection of the Palm Springs Art Museum is diverse and includes pieces by some of the most famous masters in the history of art.

In Palm Springs for a few days & my last it was 107°. Looking for things to do inside and this was a great choice. Looks smaller in the pics but was actually bigger than I thought. So glad I checked it out. I was there 90 mins and could've been there way longer very easily. 4 floors, highly recommend.

Jesse M — Google review

Great "four floor"museum w free parking near downtown. Don't forget the bottom floor, below the main entrance. The lower level is how you access the sculpture garden along w the outdoor water features, Chihuly glass sculptures, and Frey House. I recommend starting on the top floor and working your way down. $16 for adults.

I feel that The Art Museum is truly the heart of Palm Springs. Tucked against those awesome mountains and surrounded by Palm Trees in that absolutely precious little park with a water feature and chairs every where. The ambience is always changing with the Art exibitions just across the street.

Normarina R — Google review

Decent gallery for such a small town. We enjoyed the layout. We didn’t get to see the third floor as it was under construction. The layout was a little circuitous, but the space isn’t that big. Some fun masks and carvings on the second floor. Gift shop was full of cool artsy stuff.Fun activity to do while you are in the area. We visited on a Sunday in July. It wasn’t busy.

Jesse K — Google review

Really nice museum. They have some modern and some western pieces. Takes about 1.5- 2 hours to cruise through. Perfect afternoon visit in the heat as they also have amazing airconditioning.

B B — Google review

This place is behind the statue of Marilyn Monroe. It's a small museum, mostly art, and it's very clean, I love the visit, although I was expecting something more abstract or with more history behind the art. You definitely will enjoy it this time of summer weather it's very hot, and this place has a bathroom and air conditioning.

Miguel ( — Google review

Has 3 levels, including a lower level and an outside sculpture garden. Stairs and elevators available. It’s kinda quiet and echo-y and there are some delicate pieces, like the glass sculptures, so probably not the best or most interesting experience for very young children, but I saw a few families while there. There are a few bathrooms available including an all gender restroom on the main floor. A great and contemplative afternoon, especially if you want a softer experience after shopping and walking all day.

Casandra — Google review

It is VERY nice. Go on Thursday evening when it is always free courtesy of the City of Palm Springs. There was live music and refreshments. There is a street festival at the same time. Be smarter than me and take in the Sculpture Garden and the Aliminaire house while you are there. Enjoy!

Steve W — Google review

Fun and interesting selection of art! Friendly staff and a nice sized museum. Don’t forget to go downstairs to view the outdoor sections.

Grant H — Google review

Palm Springs is all about Mid Century Modern, so it should be no suprise that most of the art here is modern contemporary, which is my favorite! You're not going to find classical Renoir, Monet, Borticelli, Picasso, or paintings of Jesus dying. It's mostly all post 1900s art...weird, zany, funky, unique, wild, eccentric, and though provoking arts. Be sure to visit the bottom floor gardens as well, more groovy stuff to see!For $16 Adult, its a good way to spend 60-90 minutes, especially if its ridiculously hot outside!

Johnny T — Google review

Lovely regional museum with an incredible collection. There was teens singing and a great show by emerging artist Alake Shilling. Great time had by all. Might go back a second day in a row! We love

Luke F — Google review

This museum is a more modern art museum. So don't assume that you'll find any classical pieces. While I am not a big modern art person - this was a fascinating place to visit. On thursdays you can get free tickets from 4-6 pm. Go onto website and order them to simplify your life. They also have 2 sculpture gardens located downstairs. And there are 2 exhibition halls for rotating exhibits. Well worth the trip. And it is located across from the Marilyn Monroe statue

Came for free thursday admission from 5 to 8 pm. Make sure to book online ahead of time to reserve ticketed spots. Come early to get easy parking since its the same time as the village fair. They have a small free parking lot available and there is a parking garage across the street which offers 3 hour free parking. It was fun they had a movie screening and meet and greet on the bottom floor. They had one guy serving drinks until 7:45 pm. The one guard rudely said we are closed at 7:55 pm. So that turned me off from returning. Also there was no dj or bites of food available either. Take a pic in front of marilyn afterwards and then walk the strip.

Shaniece D — Google review

I highly recommend this Art Museum. Thursday nights are free for entry. It was such a nice and expierence. The staff was very helpful and full of knowledge. It was 2 levels not counting the exterior areas. There was music playing outside and drinks/bites to enjoy. There was such a mixture of generas, eras and perceptions of art that challeneged my mind to think outside the box!

A really nice museum that appears leap years ahead of other museums. Great pieces. I also like how they have pieces outside the building that change over time. Must visit when in the area.

Fabian R — Google review

Explored the Palm Springs Art Museum recently. Used to think contemporary art wasn't my thing, but some pieces left a lasting impression. While not every exhibit resonated with me, I hope that in this museum, everyone can discover something that speaks to them. 🎨✨

Maria K — Google review

A really cool collections! Will visit again, next time I hope to maybe catch a movie downstairs or be able to catch the exhibit on the third floor but what I saw was really cool and I hope to see more one day on my next visit to Palm springs.

Historic Walking Areas

Old Town La Quinta is a charming shopping destination that boasts Renaissance-inspired architecture and high-end boutiques and eateries. This outdoor dining and retail village exudes the old-world charm of California, hosting wine tastings, art shows, live music performances, and seasonal events.

Nice to walk around. Many art shows during the winter months. Little shops are nice and friendly, great for finding a little gift. Olive oil store, sun golf shirts store, boutiques, art gallery shop. My favorite nitro ice cream, a great place for a stroll after a nice dinner out. Many excellent restaurants. Sometimes live music. Parking is available in several parking lots.

Cold Thai noodles. A delicious vegetarian option. Just a hint of sweetness with a little kick of heat. Asian chicken salad comes with two pieces of cheese bread 🍞 served warm. Happy hour in the bar starts at 3 to 6. They serve perfect little appetizers and beer and wine. Don't tell everyone about this place. It's a cute little place. Always hopping with delicious food and great service!"

This place is so, so nice! I only wish they could actually ever unlock the bathrooms so I wouldn’t have to leave Old Town every time I need to defecate. Thanks Old Town management you guys are really killing it, the classic mark of a a really good and effective team is the INABILITY to accomplish basic tasks, and not being able to consistently unlock a door is a fantastic example of that inability. Please don’t take this as too big of an insult just use this to be better, or else I might have to take a dump in the middle of Main Street next time I have to go. ✌️💩✌️

A nice area of La Quinta to visit for a little shopping (not many retail shops here) or a nice meal. There are plenty of restaurants for lunch or dinner. It’s considered “Old” La Quinta, but when we arrived we were a little disappointed to learn that it was only built about 20 years ago and was just designed to look old. There is street parking available, and adjacent free parking lots for times when it gets a little busier.I admit, we expected a little more and were a little disappointed. We thought that we might spend several hours here, but ended up only spending a little more than an hour to see everything.

Just as charming as it has been over the years. Of course it's lovely setting. Service and blueberry/lemon danish was delicious. Pleasant service.

It is a cute lil plaza that meanders through 2 separate sections of shops and restaurants. Plenty of outdoor space to eat and drink. Such a wide variety of delicious restaurants in one space. You could do a bar crawl here. You can look up happy hour times for nice deals. Service staff everywhere are friendly and fast. Parking and wait times can be an issue on weekends during on season since this place is pretty popular.

We had so much fun in the petting zoo. Very friendly goats. Our friends' toddler had fun feeding the animals. We loved apple picking and will definitely be making it a yearly tradition. We took as many photos with the kids and animals as we could. They also had panning for gold and a coloring section for the kiddos. The BBQ was great, along with the cider! It was a little cold and they had heaters set up. Definitely a fun fall trip for the family.

2 adults visiting on a busy September Saturday, expecting some lines and sun. Despite all the visitors, we found parking with no problem. Amazing views. Forgot my hat, but secured one for under $20 at the tent. Asked for instructions to navigate the day when buying hat. We elected to pick gala apples which were a short trek up the hill & across the street.Across the street we found another shopping tent but struggled to determine how to get started picking apples. Finally found a platform with some baskets of bags by an employee with yellow hair who began giving a speech of instructions. We stood in the direct sun to listen to the employee, expecting to have access to the apple bags when they finished. However, the employee began the spiel again from the start without offering bags to anyone. Several of us were confused, and standing in the hot, direct sun, were eager to get moving. I saw those in front of me select their bags from the basket during the second spiel and head toward the free wagon to get up to the galas. We moved forward with line to the baskets & I reached in for a 10# bag. The employee with the microphone, quickly turned on me & snapped that I needed to wait. I was startled & and shared we'd already heard the speech. Employee retorted that I needed to wait and to ask them for the bags. I was alarmed to learn I was breaking rules that I was unaware of, and mortified to have been chided like that by someone with a microphone! Dazed, I slowly walked away from the bags back toward the tent. Shortly after my sister followed with a 10# bag and we got in the fully sun-exposed line for the wagon. While standing in line, a family behind us saw large umbrellas installed but not opened. The father, I assume, began opening one to shade his family. While doing so he looked at me and pointedly said, "I hope I don't get yelled at!". This was when I really realized the employee had been speaking into her microphone when talking down to me. I was pretty bewildered with embarrassment but grateful for the family's sympathy. The wagons arrived after only a few moments & we had a nice ride up the hill to the galas. We passed the pumpkins & cornmaze. We had intended to try the cornmaze but it was unclear how to purchase access & honestly I am not sure it was ready or active. It just looked like a small section of immature corn crop.At our destination, we were pointed to a single, roped-off lane of gala trees with all the other visitors. The experience was very limited, controlled and "people-y". We struggled to find enough apples we wanted to fill our bag, took some pics of the incredible views, and checked out. While waiting to pay, a woman with her family turned to me to offer that she didn't think I should've been "yelled at" earlier, that we all just wanted to get bags and get moving. I thanked her for her kindness and wondered just how many had witnessed that horrifying moment. Just under 8# of apples for about $35. We were fine with the cost.Note- most of the apples ended up not being very ripe, but were great in a pie we baked. We rode the wagon back down the hill, then walked to get bbq lunch. We found our place in a line of 20-30 people that didn't seem to progress. Many left the line, giving up on bbq, but we had read it was good & stood in line for about 75 minutes to order. After finally ordering, seats magically opened up at a shaded table & our food was ready quickly. We still have no idea why that line progressed so slowly. The pulled pork was good but the tri-tip was bland & chewy. The apple slaw was awesome. I would recommend skipping their apple pie as it was only OK. We had hoped to do more on our visit, but all the waiting, sun exposure, and the lingering unwelcome feelings from the earlier incident led us to beeline for the car and get outta there! Probably won't return in future seasons.

Lovely hidden gem in the San Bernardino mountains. Took my boys there today to do some apple picking & we had a great time. A huge selection of different types of apples & it’s pretty straight forward. They have clear bags sitting at a little booth, you just grab however many you want & start picking. You don’t pay until after you’re done, they weigh it & price is based on weight. We paid $4.50 / lb.They have a little store on site with some free samples to nibble on while you stand in line, some bbq outside on a smoker that smelled absolutely incredible, they have restrooms on site as well.It is pricey & it is a ton of walking! If you are going on a weekend, get there as soon as they open as it was insanely packed today (Saturday) so we had to park down below (parking is free) & walk up to the apple orchards. Wear comfy shoes & bring water! All in all, you should go for the experience at least once! We wanted to do the cider pressing, but it is an additional $35 for that so be prepared to spend a little money when you come here. We also bought a couple gallons of their fresh apple cider. For $25 / gallon, it is absolutely delicious. It’s so fresh & it tastes nothing like store bought apple juice. You can truly taste the difference & it is worth every single penny. We will definitely be back & a little more prepared next time!

Great place for hiking and apple picking. It was pretty crowded but not too crazy. Shortish lines for things but most moved pretty quick. They had some issues with the computers at farm kitchen ordering area so that slowed things down there, but otherwise it was a good trip. BBQ was pretty good. Portions were small for the price.

I love coming up here. There's always great things in the gift shop, the food is great and the scenery beautiful. I look forward to when they have the new building up, but for now the tent is ok.

We went on a girls trip to go pick apples. What a beautiful location and what a wonderful adventure the shop when you go in as a gentleman who tells the story and the background of the farm every 10 minutes or so you collect your bag and then you get to go and pick your apples. If you want to get the red apples we have to go to the farm down the street but we were at the Granny Smith apple picking part. We then went down and paid to get the Apple pressed cider. It was a little harder than we expected, but Krys was really super helpful. We actually got so much juice and had so much fun. It’s amazing how there’s bees and wasps everywhere but if you just remain calm, you will not get stung, it was a beautiful sunny day. It wasn’t too hot everybody that worked. There was super friendly and helpful. They have a little shop that has all sorts of cool little stuff and they even had a few Christmas decorations. They had a few baked goods behind the counter, but we were waiting to go to one of the Other places 10 out of 10 totally recommend this is a great adventure for you and your family. Location is clean and super cute. The drive is wonderful and great for an outing. I would recommend spending the whole day when you can stop at all the novelty shops along the way, and maybe even have lunch.

First time picking apples up here. Brought my New England born boo, who grew up surrounded by u pick em farms of all sorts. Was here on a warm September morning. This orchard is literally on the side of a mountain, so come prepared to walk up and down hills at elevation. You can press your own cider but you need to secure a time slot. The line to check out was a 20 minute wait and we were lucky it wasn't longer. Food, drink and bathrooms available on site.

Came here on a Sunday at the end of apple picking season, I was able to pick some granny smith's apples, so much fun! The young lady working at the cashiers booth was so very nice and showed us the proper way to pick apples and the ones not to pick. Los Rios Rancho has the picking farm on one side of the road and a tent to buy goodies and get cider and apple pies across the street. Visit both, nice folks.

Not only is the place super well spaced out, but the cider was delicious, their hard ciders are also very fresh and good, and their apple pie...I don't even like pie...genuinely could care less about it, but the apple pie was so so good, I would buy it to share with friends. The apple picking was great, so many good options and the venue itself is very clean and friendly. Recommend checking it out!

It was my first time visiting, and it turned out to be quite a journey. The long drive was made worse by heavy traffic, followed by spending another 30 minutes trying to find parking along the side of the road, plus a long walk to the farm entrance. Once there, I picked some Aztec Fuji apples, and yes, they are indeed sweeter and juicier than regular Fuji apples. However, these are the most expensive apples I've ever bought—$5 per pound, compared to under $1.50 per pound at any supermarket for regular Fuji apples. A full bag can easily cost you $25, and they even charge an additional $0.50 per bag. The farm was crowded, and there were lines everywhere. In terms of pricing, this is definitely a spot for tourists. In my opinion, the juice is not worth the squeeze. My recommendation: go there and enjoy the scenic views of the ranch, but limit and budget your spending.

My first apple picking. I recommend going early on weekday mornings. It gets very crowded around noon. It's also crowded on Saturdays and Sundays. Unfortunately, many of the apples were rotten. It was difficult to find beautiful apples.

Great animals at the petting zoo. Delicious pulled pork at the eatery there on a buttered, grilled brioche bun. The apple slaw has apples, raisins, apple cider vinegar and just a touch of mayo. I don't usually like coleslaw but I'd order it again. The cowboy beans are smokey, tangy and slightly sweet with savory tomato pieces. This is the location that burned several years ago in the big fire and they're making the most of restoring what was lost. Beautiful day!

The trails are breathtaking, Apple season started in August and ends around November. I had never picked apples before but now I can cross it off my list. Prices are alright. We picked a whole bag of apples and it was about 30.00 (with tax) they do provide military discounts.Live Music, children and families playing outside together, food smelled wonderful, lots of souvenirs. I will definitely be back during the cooler weather!

Took my daughter to pyo apples the weekend after Halloween this year and it was so much fun! I was so glad we didn’t go before Halloween as it seemed to be a little calmer - tho still certainly busy in the middle of the day. When we got there around 11AM there weren’t lines for anything and we walked right into the animal area, picking apples, getting food, tractor ride etc… but after we picked apples by 12:30 the line for tri-tip sandwiches was soooo long. So we didn’t get to sample the sandwiches but did get a hotdog, roasted corn, apple pie and a cider float! We had a wonderful time and will make an annual tradition of it for sure!

We stopped by here with the kids and enjoyed our time.:: lots of places to explore, hike and enjoy the outdoors… we also had some food and cider… the Tri tip sandwich was delicious and the ciders are very tasty… always make sure you have some warm clothes with you as the temperature can drop pretty quickly….

This place was a lot of fun for the whole family! There is a whole apple orchard where, for a price, you can pick your own apples. They have music, hayrides, foid vendors and a pumpkin patch where you can also puck your own pumpkin, for a fee.

Free parking, no admission fees, u pick apples, currently Granny Smith and Gala at $4.50/lb if you buy less than 10lbs. Over 10 lbs is $3.50/lb. Really fun family activity, lots of apple trees. There's food to buy, picnic areas, farm store as well as other activities you can pay for such as corn maze and axe throwing.

Absolutely loved my first visit to Los Rios Rancho! My family and I went on a Sunday afternoon and surprisingly it wasn’t too packed. We didn’t even know Los Rios existed but happened to find it after visiting the nearby Snowline Orchards, it’s only a short drive away so we’re definitely adding it to our list of places to visit annually!Parking can get a bit crowded so make sure to arrive earlier in the day or you will have to park far or circle around the lot until you can grab a spot. I imagine the place gets even more packed the closer you get to Christmas so that’s something to keep in mind also. They have a small area of tables to sit at while you enjoy some of their delicious, fresh Applewood BBQ. We tried their pulled pork sandwich and side of potato salad. Highly recommend! The pulled pork was bbq’d perfectly, it was nice and tender. It’s a perfect size to share if you’re not too hungry! Their potato salad was tasty as well, it pairs well with the sandwich. The Los Rios store is nice to wander around. They offer their fresh apple cider to go, select produce and bakery items (I’ll have to try their pies one day!). They also have bunch of cute kitchen decor and Christmas decor! I think there’s a petting zoo and pony rides available for children too but it’s not something we checked out during our visit. Also, make sure to go see the Botanical garden! It’s free and there’s so many beautiful scenery to enjoy. It is pretty big, it takes about 45 minutes to walk through but probably longer if you take your time. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes if you plan on walking the entire reserve. We didn’t go through the entire trail but what did see was breathtaking. So many gorgeous trees, plants and wildlife to see!Overall I give Los Rios a well deserved five star rating! They have so much to offer. I’ll definitely be back next year!

A perfect place for walk around and exercise, or just for rest in a good community. I love to pick up apples from the tree and catch a beautiful picture.

This was our first time visiting since the fire. We were glad to see it up and running, although it's clearly a long road. The farm store had lots of tasty items and cute gifts. We hope to come back soon because it's such a lovely location.

Awesome place ... everyone was very nice and the farm is great. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend taking your family and friends.

This is one of my all time favorite spots in Oak Glen. The vibes and atmosphere are 10/10. Food is 100/10. They offer a variety of produce picking from apples, berries, & pumpkins depending on the season. The scenic views make the experience so much better as well. I come here every year during the fall & absolutely love it. They have the BEST iced apple cider & bread bowl soups here. It’s pretty family friendly too- as they offer a farm with animals & various events to participate in. If you’re visiting socal or planning a trip to Oak Glen— definitely add this spot to your list!

Nice historical farm. There was a Civi War reenactment going on while we visited and we would have eaten there, but there were no tables set up yet. Nice setting in a very scenic area near Oak Glen.

We spent the most time here this year. We tried the apple pie, Bundt cake (not my favorite), sausage and apples, crisp apple cider and hot apple cider. Everyone enjoyed it all. Would have loved to pick flowers and apples here but they were having an event and closing the back half at 4pm. So we left to pick apples elsewhere. Pretty flower fields. Cute goats.

We had a great visit, we learned so much. We took home a double crust apple pie and it was delicious. I'm not a big pie fan but this one changed my mind about them! The men that led us around did a wonderful job acting the part. I appreciated seeing men being strong and assertive. So refreshing! After we left I searched their website and was sad to see some of the issues they are going through against those who despise our nation and the freedom it offers. For those who love and respect our nation, it's history and Truth, Riley's farm will be a great place to visit.

One of my favorite places to visit in Oak Glen. The colonial feel and decor make you think you've been transported back in time. If you come on a day that isn't so busy, you can find a nice spot in the shade to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature around you. On busy days there's quite a crowd, but there's a lot to see and the grounds are large enough to accommodate.

What a fun family experience in a beautiful area! We tried the gold rush experience. There is a bit of a hill so not recommended with children 2 or younger, but my olders had fun earning in their bank note! I am definitely going to try their other historic experiences! We ordered their brisket sandwiches for lunch, which were pretty good and I took an apple dumpling home to cook.

We love this place, we go every fall. Apple picking, pear picking, flower picking, pumpkins and much more. The kids always enjoy it, and they have food and apple treats. Highly recommend for a fall day family trip.

I took a day off to go on a school field trip with my daughter and also offered a helping hand for her teacher. It was a group of 33 students. At first, I was skeptical 🫤 about this place just by reading reviews and Google around. When we 1st arrived, they made us feel special when there already a group of people dressed in colonial uniforms waiting to greet us. The kids were excited 😊 and that was important.*Important to make sure you try their apples 🍎 and caramel pie🥧. It's delicious! This place offers so much that you can't judge by looking at the outside. The kids were having a blast of experience making 🍞 bread dough the old tradition way. Sign their signatures using a feather 🪶 pen with black ink. They also learned how to make clothes using materials such as linens and wool. Sitting in a room going through unfair trials 😁. This part was particularly amazed by the kids of how a system worked without rules. They also experience the old way of dancing between ladies and gentlemen. The most exciting part was participating in the war, which they do it outside of the big field. Also, there were many games that kids could play with each other or play with a big group.Even though this place is kinda far, you can't deny the culture and the experience that this place has offered.I love it personally. 🥰

I visited Riley's farm every fall for years with my kids. My family had a great time again @ Riley's!!Be sure to get there early during the weekend.

Fun place to take your family to go apple, blackberry and raspberry picking. They also have a few restaurants and host events.

Sari M — Google review

Went apple picking, and then to the pumpkin patch. Apples were 3.50/lb. Pumpkins' price varies.Tried their apple cider, and it was the best apple cider I've ever had in my life. IIRC, they were selling a half gallon apple cider for 27.00 and the gallon for 35.00+.Free parking in the dirt - first come, first serve. No reservations required. Check the updated harvest schedule online. I recommend coming here early in the picking season so you have a good selection.

Had such a great time with my family. Came for my mom's birthday veterans day weekend and we didn't know they were doing a civil war reenactment. It was really fun and cool. Ate at the restaurant which had good bread bowl soup. Cinnamon roll was massive but hard and not warmed up which I was sad about. Street parking was a little rough but luckily found something close. They have axe throwing, archery, candle making and tracker rides. In the last hour the tram ride was $1 and the pumpkin was also $1 for end of the season (heck yes!)

Daisy R — Google review

Fun and enjoyable day with a school field trip. Not sure what an individual would do however. They have a great bakery and store. Grounds are not ADA compliant.

Jason A — Google review

Super fun and interactive field trip. Be prepared for hills, mud, large steps, and general rough terrain. There is no easy path in some areas and there are definitely no accessable ramps for wheelchairs. You can order pies the day before or morning of and pick them up after your activity. There is very little pre-made food, so be sure to order ahead. Also note some of the roads have been affected by water so bring a taller vehicle.

I didn't anticipate staying here, but weather and traffic conditions forced me to, lol.It was a good 2-1/2hr stay, lol.

We chose to come to Oak Glen on a weekday as most people visited over weekend commented it's quite crowded. Riley's is the first farm and they are one of the farms that are open weekday as well. Unfortunately the barbecue restaurant is open only Saturday and public holidays. For $3.5 per lb , their apples are cheaper than other farms Im aware of. We enjoyed apple picking in a relaxed fashion. We got mostly gala ones but very sweet indeed. They also have pumpkin and flowers for picking. For apples , the lady accepted card payment.

Riley's farm is a nice place to stop at if you're in the area and looking for a family fun experience! I happened to be there since for my yearly visit to Snowlike Orchards and Los Rios which are both down the road from Riley's. My family and I had tried to visit last year but unfortunately the farm was closed due to it being Sunday. So just be forewarned they are not open on that day!The last time I had visited Riley's Farm was when I was a kid so my memory of the place was very vague. The property is very large so be prepared for some walking if you arrive on a busy day and have to park in the back lots like we did. Also make sure you wear comfortable shoes since you will be walking up and down slopes and dirt hills! Needless to say we all got a good workout walking the day we visited. There's plenty of areas to explore. They have fields of apples, raspberries, pumpkins and other various fruits to see! Definitely a nice place to take cute pictures at. They even have a beautiful stream that runs through the property. There were two areas of the farm that we saw during our visit. The first was in the front by the road. They have a big historic house that is now transformed into a dining area. You can order food outside and find seating indoors. We took a quick peak at the menu, a few of their offerings included apple pies, bbq sandwiches and chicken pot pies if I remember correctly. There's also a small barn shop with some souvenirs to take home as well as their famous apple cider! The second area we explored was more uphill and secluded. They have a blacksmith, a large indoor souvenir shop and another dining area that served BBQ sandwiches as well as sides. They have plenty of indoor seating and also offer their famous apple cider (both warm and cold options). There's a nice large grass area to hang out at and relax with family before you truck back down the hill to your vehicle.Overall it was a nice experience for us, minus the walking! The property is just very large and it was a bit warm when we were there so those two didn't mix very well. Keep in mind if you have little ones with you they might not like walking up and down the hills or may get tired quickly. But Riley's Farm is definitely a cool place to experience and get some nice pictures!

Darien D — Google review

This is a large location with plenty to look at. The trails and fields of apples, pumpkins, blackberries, strawberries, and many more. The trails are really beautiful and peaceful. You can go to the general store to pay for your pumpkins and apples. They have a bbq place that was closed and a bakery with some yummy goodies. The prices are a bit higher at this location by almost $12.for pressing a gallon of cider. There wasn’t very many staff members to help which was nice. It was a beautiful day. It’s not a great place for small babies or little kids that don’t walk. The trails are very steep and unpaved. The restrooms were clean and the soap smelled really fresh and clean. Ten out ten recommend bring some water.

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is a large zoo located in Palm Desert outside of Los Angeles. It features a variety of animals from around the world, including desert-adapted species. The zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, making it one of only a few in the world to receive this honor.

We were very lucky to enjoy a private tour with Dave today. Not only did we get to see every exhibit the zoo includes, we also received detailed information about the animals and environments we were witnessing. Dave was an excellent host, providing us a comfortable, safe, and fun experience. He was very attentive to the children in our group and made sure they got a great view of everything. The giraffe feeding was awesome, and it was a nice benefit to cut the line via the private tour. Overall it was a wonderful way to experience everything this very well managed, clean, well-signed zoo had to offer. Thanks Dave and everyone there!

Visiting the Living Desert Zoo was a fantastic experience! Feeding the giraffes was definitely the highlight of our trip. The zoo is very clean, well-maintained, and offers a great selection of animals and plants native to the desert environment. My family and I had a wonderful time exploring all the exhibits. It’s both fun and educational, making it a must-stop if you’re in Palm Desert. Highly recommend checking it out!

I don’t understand why it took us such a long time to come and visit this wonderful habitat of some extraordinary animals. Do not hesitate to come and bring your family here. We enjoyed each minute of this zoo. First time seeing some of the animals so close and kept in great environments. Keep up the great job The living zoo.

A wonderful zoo that's affordable with unique attractions. Feeding the giraffes is the highlight but I really loved the outdoor train model. It was absolutely massive and had so much detail. Such a cool thing to see at a zoo. The meerkats are hilarious and so many other exhibits were fun. Highly recommended!

This is easily my favorite zoo as it offers such intimate experiences with the animals both with the way the enclosures are set up as well as the special experiences such as giraffe feeding, petting zoo and walk in wallaby and prairie enclosures. My 2+4 year olds loved it

Analiese D — Google review

I love this place! Honestly, the best zoo out here especially for the price! I love all the desert animals and plants here. They are doing plenty of renovations at this moment but there’s still a lot to see! The staff are all kind and welcoming. The animal exhibits are all amazing. You can feed giraffes, walk through a wallaby exhibit and also spend time with a rhino! The food and drinks here are definitely expensive but it’s so worth the visit!

Melissa B — Google review

A world- class zoo in a quiet, low-key place. It's small, not too many animals, but those they have are kept in natural, spacious settings, and there are staff available eager to answer any questions. It's the perfect size for young kids to walk around, not overwhelming, not crowded. There is also a huge, outdoor model train exhibit , and a special area for birthday parties and weddings. Don't miss the wallaby exhibit - no cages, so you get a very close-and-personal experience. Love this place.

One of the prettiest zoos in the country! You can feed giraffes for $10 per person, encounter Wallabies and prairie dogs. Very friendly people around the zoo are providing you interesting details and insights!

Just got back from a day at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens and wow, it was awesome! This place has it all. They've got animalsf, like wild dogs and a striped hyena, which was super cool to see up close. We were there right smack in the middle of the day, and unlike other zoos where you're lucky to spot a sleeping animal or two, here, there were tons of them up and about. Made our visit way more exciting! The place is super kid-friendly too. You're never too far from a snack place or a bathroom, which, trust me, is a lifesaver when you're herding kids around. And it's spotless everywhere you look, which is pretty impressive for a zoo.Oh, and you’ve gotta check out the gift shop before you leave. It’s not your usual zoo gift shop; it’s got something for everyone, no matter your budget.Definitely give this zoo a visit. Just a heads up though—it gets HOT, and there's a lot of wandering under the sun, so come prepared. Getting there early is a good move too, especially if you want to catch the animal feedings and some really interesting talks by the staff. Trust me, it's a day well spent!

Justin W — Google review

We went for the Glow in the Dark event. It was impressive before dark and spectacular after dark. Most of the animals were active and close enough in their habitats that they were easy to see. The various lanterns throughout the park were so impressive. Loved that there were interactive areas for kids and adults to enjoy and to have cute photo ops. Hard to pick out a favorite. Plenty of places to pick up a snack to sit and enjoy. Reasonably priced too. I will definitely be back!

If you can go during a cooler time of year than late summer, this is a super nice place. Lots of walking and it is hot AF if you've never been to this part of CA. (Like 107-110° even in late Sept), so come prepared! I've never seen this before, but they have wallabies that wander around the enclosure loose (super cool, like you could probably pet them if they'd let you, but i didn't try) and kookaburra birds, jaguar, emus, lions, rhinos, etc. Lots of massive palms and desert plant life. Definitely recommend.

Brandon B — Google review

Once you get past the sticker shock of the entrance fee, the zoo is awesome, clean, and beautiful. We were disappointed to see that there were no giraffes to feed but we're still able to see them from afar (be aware that it's an additional cost to feed them after entry). The rhino is also an additional cost to see up close. We all appreciated that there were bathrooms and water fountains everywhere.Fyi- military discount is $2 off the entry fee and only applies to the ID holder, not the family.

We had such an amazing time at The Living Desert Zoo and Garden! It's such a beautiful environment to see all of the animals. Feeding the giraffes was a blast. All of the staff members that we interacted with were very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I Highly recommend!!

This is the second time we've visited and we really enjoyed it. We got to see some animals that we hadn't managed before, like the coyotes and the miniature railway display is really good.Feeding the giraffes was certainly the highlight for my little one.

Illremember T — Google review

Great experience because we get to get really close to the animals. Feeding & petting are part of the activities which is nice. Some zoos didn’t allow that.. all animals look well taken care of. I just wish it wasn’t too hot and that they have more mist fans around for visitors & the animals.

Ukswensen O — Google review

This was a fun trip for adults and kids alike, the animals & I HIGHLY recommend feeding the giraffes, as it was a unique experience being so close to them. The zones are clearly marked to make navigating very easy, which is a plus. The zookeepers and employees were all so friendly & made the experience one to remember!

God bless the owner for that. With this discount you can used the money to buy gifts or food inside …. What a wonderful blessingI love it and my family too.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A really great Zoo for the kids but my little guy liked the train model set the most. You can get up and close with giraffe feeding but have to pay extra. I'm not sure if we saw everything there as the zoo is now completely paperless--environmentally friendly. There is an app you can download to guide you but we did not do that. Maybe next time... Wish there was a little more staff around to know what was best to see, when feedings occur etc.Bathroom facilities were pretty frequent which was good too.

Chenoa M — Google review

The zoo was amazing. The safari animals were all around. The rhinos were active when we went, even though it was scorching outside. The giraffes were super fun. A gouge to buy the lettuce for feeding ($10 for three leaves of lettuce), but the money goes to help the animals. And the giraffes eating out of your hand is very entertaining. We caught the tortoises getting fed. You could smell the strawberries as they munched on them. The exhibits are spread out nicely. Lots of places to stop in the shade when walking around. Many of the animals were taking a rest out of the sun. Can’t blame them. I would recommend going early in the morning when it’s not so hot. It was quiet we went because of the heat. They were renovating/expanding when we were there. Looks like they are adding much more to do at the zoo.Not too far out of Palm Springs. We really enjoyed the zoo. Check it out if you are near by.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is a rotating tram car that takes visitors up to the San Jacinto Mountains. It offers an escape from the summer heat, with multiple restaurants and observation decks. Passes are available now, and it is open from mid-March to early November.

One of my favorite places to visit for some snow! Honestly, it’s a bit better than going all the way to Big Bear. It’s just more convenient. I went on March and we got to see lots of snow!!!! It was snowing as well!!! So beautiful. As for tickets, online might say their sold out but if you arrive early when they open which is at 10:00am, they sell some tickets until they sell out so make sure to get there early.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is a wonderful journey for everyone to. I love this place! Lots of parking, there's a tram that picks you up to take you to entrance at more than 8500 ft. We bought tickets when we got there, but you can buy them online before. Great views, and the staff makes the tram fun with music and sharing info on the way up. The film tells the history. It's all so interesting to see how it was made! Lots of food with the ride and dine tickets, The restaurant food is okay at the top! Go out on the deck at the top and walk out to all the little lookout.

I went a couple weeks ago for the very first time! I had a very great time and the view is beautiful! I will for sure be coming back!😍My visit was last minute planned, so we waited about 2+ hours to get on which is understandable. But it was worth every second!

A great place! I recommend it to everyone! It was a little scary to take the tram up, as it is very high and there are only rocks all around. But it's very exciting and beautiful. The pine forest at the top of the mountain will not leave you indifferent. You will feel the refreshing coolness and the coniferous aroma of the mountain air. This is a truly lifesaving place from the heat in Palm Springs. I recommend buying tickets with dinner if you plan to eat upstairs after 4 p.m.

Incredible views 8500 ft up from sea level. Would recommend 10/10. What a nice get away from the desert heat as well! Loved spending time here and walking around at the summit in the woods. Will be back!

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway was an unforgettable experience. For just $30 per person, we were treated to awe-inspiring views of the Coachella Valley as we ascended over 8,500 feet in the world's largest rotating tram car. At the Mountain Station, we had plenty of time to explore the scenic trails, take in the panoramic vistas, and even grab a snack from the quick bites cafe. While there is also a sit-down restaurant at the top, we didn't have a chance to dine there on this trip. The waits were about 30 minutes each way, but the time flew by as we chatted with fellow passengers and admired the scenery. If you're seeking a unique adventure and don't mind heights, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is an absolute must-do!

A great experience. My husband's grandfather was the President of the Civil Engineer group that designed this aerial tram. He has a plaque at the top. Very cool to see it. Tram ride is wonderful going to the top and back down. Very organized and easy to use. Are at the sit down restaurant and food was great. Waitress was a little overwhelmed with mostly likely too many tables but she was very polite.

Christine T — Google review

I recommend purchasing tickets directly from the official website. Our group bought tickets from a third-party site, which meant we didn't get a designated time until we checked in, resulting in an additional hour's wait for the tram. During this time, we enjoyed some drinks. The ride to the top offered beautiful views. However, despite the conductor's reminder that the tram rotates as it moves, some people held onto the railing, causing others to get squished. There was plenty of snow during our visit, making the scenery even more breathtaking. However, it also required extra caution on the hikes. I recommend arriving early to make the most of the experience, as the departure line gets long. Our departure wait was nearly two hours.

Marisela V — Google review

It's a fun ride up and down. The scenery at the top is stunning. The restaurant was very good. I only give it three stars because it is crazy expensive. $15 to park. $66 for a couple to go up ( if you are over 65, you get $1.25 off). Lunch for two was $94 plus tip. So, it's $170 for a fun 20 minute round trip ride and a couple of sandwiches and tea.

We went during the off season. We purchased the lunch/dinner with the tram ride. which was a better deal purchasing them together. The food was very good & you could eat outside or in. We took a walk along some of the trails. All the staff were helpful & friendly. Bathrooms were very clean. They also provide a photo with a variety of packages for a price.

So much fun! The "captain" of the tram in our ride down was amazing. Awesome music and great energy! Even if the website says tickets sold out, ignore it. You will always be able to get tickets at the base.

Great views, and the staff makes the tram fun with music and sharing info on the way up. Be sure to go through the little museum before you leave. It's all so interesting to see how it was made! Lots of food with the ride and dine tickets, we had a lot of leftovers. Bar and restaurant at the top! Go out on the deck at the top and walk out to all the little lookouts, you can take your drink with you while you walk around.

Wow. What a spectacular view from the rotating tram, which ensures everyone will have a great view from all sides. The hike in the beautiful mountains was an added bonus. For me, going up made me a little nervous, but coming down wasn't bad.

It’s weekday but a lot of people come here for the trail and cafe. It was a nice experience to use the tramway! My hubby and I got the summer pass, $85 good from May 1st to August! Will definitely come back here. When you reach the top, it is colder. The fresh air and relaxing nature is so invigorating. Will definitely come back here!

My 1st experience at the Palm Springs aerial tramway was amazing. It's definitely a must when visiting Palm Springs. Upon arrival, be prepared to take a small steep inclined hike to the station from the parking lots, and transports are available. Check-in is easy, with a small deli and bar conveniently located at the bottom station offering plenty of shaded benches and amazing views. The tramway itself is a treat when heading up as it rotates, offering breathtaking views regardless of where you may be standing. Once you arrive at the top , the newly renovated 3 floor station provides you 2 locations to dine at. Reservations are recommended to eat at the restaurant. The bar is a must offering an array of beverages to your liking (beers on draft or bottled, wines, and several spirits for cocktails). Theirs a small museum and a couple of theaters offering a quick history lesson and education on the wildlife observed in the area. Bring warm clothes as temperatures fluctuate in 8k+ elevation. There are plenty of hiking trails as well behind the station. I highly recommend the tramway. 10 out of 10.

Visited on labors day 2024.We bought the tram tickets on site. The line for the ticket booth wasn't long, but the real waiting started after that. We arrived around noon and had to wait ~1.5hours to ride the tram, which was still doable but highly recommend buying tickets ahead ;)

A great adventure with breathtaking views of Palm Springs. The ride up and down is about 10 minutes. On top you have a couple of dining options, shopping, trails and other educational opportunities. A fun break from the desert heat too.

Well worth the ticket price. 40° cooler than in Palm Springs. Nice short walks at the summit among the trees. We did the post 4:30pm trip including a meal in the cafe which was good. Last cable car returns at 8:30pm. Parking is $15.

This is a nice place to visit. We drove in from Santa Clarita to visit, and it was all worth it.There are very good views up there and a lot of trails if you are into hiking. There is a cafe and a restaurant. My wife and I had each a salad at the cafe, and they were very tasty and well made- well worth the money. The ride itself takes about 11 minutes. You can buy tickets online - or do as us: walk-in, which can result in getting no tickets. We arrived early at opening, so no problem.

(Sorry for the late review, we went here during March). This was the greatest experience ever since I’ve never seen snow in ages(Texas). The air cool and there were plenty of great views. And at the top, they have plenty of foods to choose from. But then you get to walk even further into the mountain. The employees were fantastic and the tram pilot was very friendly and had some jokes along the way. Would definitely recommend this.

Nestled in California, Mount San Jacinto State Park offers a diverse landscape of soaring peaks and breathtaking vistas. The weather undergoes a dramatic shift from the Coachella Valley floor to the top of the aerial Tramway in Palm Springs, providing a refreshing change for visitors. Hiking enthusiasts can explore an array of trails, including the renowned Pacific Crest Trail and routes leading to Mt. San Jacinto.

Review for April 2021. Mount San Jacinto State Park. A California State Park. The first thing I want to mention is the fact that the weather changes significantly from the Coachella Valley floor to the top of the aerial Tramway in Palm Springs. Also known as San Jacinto Mountain Range. I'm not guilty, to say that I absolutely enjoy the change of weather. It was pretty hot on the valley floor but when I got here I should have brought a sweater at least. Nevertheless it was a wonderful experience and I did the five mile hike Trail. Definitely recommend is for any Adventure Seekers out there

Plenty of trails to choose from, including the PCT and some fun routes to Mt. San Jacinto!

Hiked to the tram area with son. Starting at 4am we made it by noon taking many breaks to love the views. Weren’t prepped to go to peak -another 5 or so miles but will be going again in few weeks, weather permitting to bag that peak!!!!

DrJ A — Google review

I visited here in January 2019. While palm springs is desert, the top of mountain was covered with snow. And tram which automatically turns around was fantastic.

Bodies of Water

Lake Hemet is a man-made mountain lake that offers an ideal venue for various outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, camping, and hiking. The campground has numerous clean sites and amenities like bathrooms that are cleaned twice daily and free showers that are as clean as locker rooms. Though the swimming area may be smaller in size, it's maintained well with strict regulations against animals in the water.

We had a great time camping for Thanksgiving..Bill our camp host checked on us regularly to make sure we were good and needed anything ..beautiful lake .we will be back soon..thank you lake hemet.

This is a lovely place to go. Parking is close to the water with only a small hike down or u can choose to travel further and set up ur fishing spot. I don't fish but I do hike. The people are nice and well its just beautiful here

Stunning spot, great for fishing and camping. You can find all the I fo you need for staying there on their website. So close to Idyllwild and the Santa Rosa Pit Stop for Chester's Chicken! Bathrooms aren't phenomenal but it's the great outdoors! Make sure to check the weather before you go!

This lake and camp ground is just breath taking and so beautiful. I highly recommend a visit this area for a tranquil stroll or an over nighter. Make sure to get your National parks day pass or annual pass to visit here. Lake Hemet is part of the San Bernardino National Park. 😊

Highly recommend Bill was the BEST CAMP HOST checked on our whole party multiple times, and answered all of our questions! Bathrooms clean they clean them twice a day. Showers were free and clean like locker rooms. Swimming area is on the smaller side but clean NO ANIMALS allowed in the water that bummed me out. Over all great stay and will return!

It is very relaxing and fun to come here and fish with my son. We go all the time. It's inexpensive and only a 20 minute drive from home

Ashley A — Google review

It was cold, but wonderful. After all we were here in March. Best to go during the summer, but we wanted to just get away.It is a hidden gem tucked away in the San Jacinto Mountains. Maybe because it was chilly, we had the place much to ourselves. The fishing was pretty good and we camped one night and had fresh fish. The lake is serene and beautiful. There is lots of hiking to do and you will find lovely streams. Behind the lake is beautiful forests that are just breathtaking. There is sand and RVs are welcome. You forget that the City is nearby and you can just relax for a day or a week, whatever you have time to do. This is a must stop for nature lovers. There was staff there even on this cold day. They were wonderful and gave us great tips.Next time we will come for a 3 day weekend. It is wonderful

Our family comes here every year, and every year we have the best time. The campsites are always clean, the fishing is good, the kayaking is amazing, and the staff are always friendly. Cannot recommend this place enough. Can't wait until next year.

Cindy H — Google review

Went there a week ago while it was snowing… love this place and a great way to kick back and enjoy life. Went again mid August…really nice place with a lot of happy campers, literally and figuratively. Hiked to the dam and back…

Jack M — Google review

My family and I stayed here for three days and two nights. It is beautiful, and serene. There are cute squirrels, and birds. There are also butterflies and dragonflies. This campground is very well maintained. Handicap accessible for me on my knee scooter. I felt like this place was a very safe environment. Our son had a blast. The only bummer was the lack of Wi-Fi, and phone reception. Kept us off our electronics though. If you rent some cabins and rooms, some of them include Wi-Fi.

Western Science Center

Science museum

Museums

Kid-friendly science museum with dinosaurs, fossils & history, plus hands-on science activities.

Wonderful little museum with lots of fossils. Exploring the history behind the local area and its prehistoric past is easy and fun while visiting this educational establishment. Very affordable, friendly staff, and interesting exhibits. I recommend checking this place out for some thought provoking insight into the past! Dig in!

Hey B — Google review

Don't be expecting a massive museum, and center your experience into looking into the past but seeing actual bones from dinosaurs that roamed where you are standing. That's the magic of this museum.Apart from that, it's a spotless very modern museum with great staff.I cant emphasize enough how friendly the staff were at this museum.I hope people realize eye they have here and support it anyway they can.

Deckie G — Google review

Great museum. Very kid friendly. Very nice staff. Lots of kid friendly activities to do. You take your time and you will find them! It's worth spending time at each exhibit. The movie plays every 20 mins or so. Not always the same movie. Kind of reminds me of IMAX.

Keith W — Google review

We returned for more and not even a year later. Interactive kid-friendly fun that changes frequently enough. We spent at least 4 hours here exploring and had lots of fun. Entry fees are nominal.

Alana R — Google review

Pretty cool museum. Shows the history of the fossils they found while making the lake. Like many museums, they yake an evolution stance of millions of years. So if you’re taking a creation view, just so you're ready. The staffbia very friendly and they have a small gift 🎁 shop.

Christopher H — Google review

Such a wonderful experience! We went on the first Saturday of the month. The kids science activities were amazing and very educational. My kids really enjoyed themselves and spent over an hour just doing the special science activities outside. Inside the museum was spectacular. Such a gem that we have this in our valley. The exhibits took us about an hour to get through. We liked all the kids activities inside too. All the volunteers and employees were very nice and friendly.

Kay — Google review

Great place to take the kids/grandkids.It is showing it's age a little but that is another reason to go! Support places like this so they get more funding. All the little ones I saw were in love. They offer a fun and free souvenir that anyone can make.Hopefully with more support and even more funding this place with become an even cooler place.

Sarah B — Google review

Small little place that might Interest people who like Mastodons. We used our reciprocal membership so it was free but my Bil paid $14 for him and his son. I don't think it is worth that. We made it about an hour but that was with me forcing them to sit through the movies. The dig site was closed and it is a long with a school. Plus a few things were broken that were hands on. My boys wanted to play with the brushes and practice digging but we're not able to. It could use a nice sand pit with kinetic sand or something similar for kids to practice paleontology. If it is free, then a nice place to kill a hot afternoon around 100. The bathrooms inside were really nice and spacious.

Troy S — Google review

Pretty basic center. It's a kid-friendly science museum with dinosaurs, fossils etc., plus hands-on activities for kids, but not much for adults. You can walk through it in about 20 minutes. The price is low enough ($7.50 Seniors) so I couldn't complain. They probably need to have food and benches to sit. Not really a place I would revisit.

Mike N — Google review

Came here after a visit to the lake for the wildflowers. Didn’t realize this Museum is largely dedicated to the massive amounts of archeological and paleontological finds in what would become the Diamond Valley Lake. Wonderful museum and very friendly staff!

Nash H — Google review

You want something to do on a rainy day with kids, this is your place. It's small but they have tons to see and they have lots of activities that kids can do while they learn and have fun.

Lupita I — Google review

Finding it was easy until you get to the parking lot. It's a little confusing because of the private school on the premises. There are little projects for the older kids to do. Actually archeological digs and people to explain what you see. Small museum, but just enough to want more or peak the interest of a child 6 and older. My 4 year old liked the bones just for a second.

Nina F — Google review

Great place to learn and experience from the past to the Future. Had our grandchild in town along with our kids, grandchild said this was the best place ever to go! There's your answer right there please go visit.

Ramiro S — Google review

Amazing place to take the kiddos when you are looking for something fun, inexpensive, and educational. There are so many little stations for the kids to interact with and there is a cool video that shows a movie about the mammoth they found. Kids can run around, dog for fossils, make rubbings.. all sorts of things.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Western Science Center in Hemet, CA, and I must say it was a truly captivating experience. The museum itself is beautifully designed and modern, with spacious galleries that showcase a remarkable collection of fossils, artifacts, and exhibits. The layout is well thought out, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace and delve into the rich history of the region. One of the highlights of my visit was the massive "Max", a perfectly preserved mastodon skeleton that dominates the main hall. It's truly awe-inspiring to stand next to such a majestic creature from the past. The level of detail and care put into the display is commendable, providing a fascinating glimpse into the world of paleontology. The Western Science Center also offers a range of interactive displays and hands-on activities for all ages. From digging for fossils in the simulated excavation site to the engaging educational programs, there's something to engage and educate everyone. It's an excellent opportunity for children and adults alike to learn about the natural history of the area in an entertaining and accessible way. The staff at the museum are knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about their work. They are always ready to answer questions, share interesting facts, and make your visit a memorable one. Their enthusiasm for the subject matter is infectious and adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the overall experience. Lastly, I must mention the museum's commitment to community engagement. They regularly host special events, lectures, and workshops, fostering a sense of curiosity and discovery among visitors of all backgrounds. It's wonderful to see an institution so dedicated to spreading knowledge and promoting scientific literacy. In conclusion, the Western Science Center is a hidden gem in Hemet, CA. Whether you're a science enthusiast, a history buff, or simply looking for an educational and entertaining outing, this museum won't disappoint. It's a captivating journey through time, filled with wonders that will leave you in awe. I highly recommend a visit, and I can't wait to return myself.

So calm and awesome lake. Great for fishing , hiking and boating activities at this huge lake.

A pretty scenic trail with plenty of restrooms fairly simple hike. Caught a few bass with the father in-law. It was a great day!

Robinson F — Google review

Only one entrance so you wait in line forever just to access the parking area. They charge you for everything. Got to Pay to park. You have to Pay to fish. If your fishing from shore you got to Pay for a trail pass. This is the last Lake on my list if I want to go fishing. So why do I also have to have a State fishing license? Water District just wants more MONEY from you.

Richard K — Google review

Diamond Valley Lake has hike/bike trail around lake (27 miles). The trails are hard pack gravel and fairly level for the most part. I only biked in about 1/2 hour and another 1/2 hour back. Electric bikes can be rented at the marina. Cost $4 per person and $11 to park. Beautiful views.

It was the end of March and only a few flowers were blooming, but it was a beautiful place. There was a big snake, so don't wear light clothes. It's good to have a selfie stick to attack.

Daiki M — Google review

This lake is beautiful. We went there during spring and loved the wildflowers. You can take a stroll around the lake on the trails or can rent a boat. Beautiful place to spend a nice day. Although we did not find any proper food places nearby, so you better have food somewhere else in the city before reaching this place.

Debaleena S — Google review

Good lake. Beautiful quality fish to be caught year round here. Even in December bass chew on this lake. Gotta use good fluorocarbon if you know what's good for you.

Charles D — Google review

The trail here is pretty to see the wild flowers. We saw three snakes, one of them is rattle snake so beware. Stop thinking about pictures and start looking at ground

Chandra R — Google review

Unfortunately, we are not going to have wild flower bloom this year. It is so strange not to see a single poppy. It is still a nice hike.

Kent M — Google review

We went here during the bloom last year, it was amazing! A little busy but thats expected. Had outdoor bathrooms which is a plus. Plan to return this year for the blooms!

Bayley M — Google review

The spring blooms here by the lake did not disappoint us. Its a beautiful place to go see the blooms, take a lot of pictures and do a small hike around the lake or the flowers. We did the flower trail and finished it in like 2-3 hours even after stopping a lot for taking pictures. 11$ per car for entrance, and 4$ per person for the trail.

Jagadish S — Google review

Absolutely a hidden gem, beautiful scenery and lovely trails,BUT don't go in to the bathroom and expect it to be clean and working!Absolutely disgusting for the fee they ask to view the most wonderful place.id expect if I'm charged to walk the trail that I'd have clean working restrooms available to me.it was 9:00 am it should have been clean for the start of the day.Just stating the obvious.

Ralph F — Google review

Great ride around the lake perimeter. Approximately 23 miles with approx. 1,200 elevation gain. Access to the road cost $15

Emountainbiking G — Google review

Good place to go to enjoy the super bloom.Parking is $11, $4/person if you want to go on trails.I would suggest about 3 hours for taking pictures and walking on trails to enjoy the flowers. The line to get into the park gets very long starting at 11am, could taking over 1hr just to get into the park.

Jennie Z — Google review

Just went the other day here. Even though it was the weekday, you had to go early as it could get crowded. You can go boating, fishing, hiking...etc. No dogs allowed. $11 for parking and $4 each person for the trail.Beautiful views, and if you're able, go up the mountain to have a better view. You can spend the whole day here with your family. Although they should add more benches for those who are disable to be able to hike up.

Khrista C — Google review

Excellent conditions to bike around the lake.Trail is 22 miles and rocky with exposed shale and mud puddles. It is completely navigable though. Get there NOW while the wildflowers are in bloom. If you can bike, bike. The flowers are better after you get past the people walking past the west dam on the south side of the lake.Parking is $11. Trail access is $4. Both worth it. Get there early cause it gets really crowded around lunch and later as tourist get bused inAnd the fishing aint so bad either.

Richard L — Google review

I went to see the flowers two weeks ago, it was in full bloom, there were about five varieties of flowers, I don't know its name, the colors were purple, dark blue, orange, yellow, white! It's really, really beautiful! It is worth going to watch and hike, relax ! There are some flying bugs on the mountain, if you don't like it, you can protect your face and wear a mask

Borrego Palm Canyon is a popular spot near Borrego Springs, just 8 minutes away from downtown. It's a great hike for families, but it can get hot, so it's best to visit in the winter, spring, or early morning. The trail is about 3 miles round trip and some sections are still closed due to a past fire. The canyon features flowing water and a desert oasis.

Borrego Palm Canyon is a great trail to hike and see some great scenery, explore a canyon, and see a large oasis. The hike is about 3 miles round trip with a separate optional return trail that leads back to the parking lot. The trail follows a wash up the canyon with a great oasis as a reward as the end. A great trail to hike if visiting Anza Borrego State Park or Borrego Springs. Best to hike in the early morning on hotter days.

Brendan K — Google review

I recently hiked the Palm Canyon dessert trail and had a wonderful experience. The trail is an in-and-out route, culminating in a stunning palm oasis that, while not accessible due to habitat preservation, offers a serene spot to rest and enjoy the surroundings. The best time to hike is in the morning when there are fewer people, allowing for a more peaceful experience. The trail is also very kid-friendly, with easy terrain that even young hikers can manage. Overall, it's a fantastic hike for nature lovers of all ages.

Elias V — Google review

There is a gift shop and snack bar at the parking lot. Adjacent to the parking is an ancient palm grove that has provided for the local native Americans for generations. Several hiking trails lead off into the desert and mountains.

Chuck D — Google review

Great hike for the early Spring. Lots of wildlife and flowers. Easy hike with some river crossings and some rock climbing that could be hard for older or handicapped folks.

Terence C — Google review

This trail surprised me. I meandered for a while, finding the trail and then hearing water. Followed the water up. Lots of bouldering and looking down where you step with all the rocks. Many alternate paths, I went up a completely different path than I came down. It's about 1.4 miles to get to the Palm Oasis, took almost two hours roundtrip. In April after a wet winter, there was plenty of water coming down, very pretty. You could still cross the river though which was nice. $10 day pass to park.

Jenny R — Google review

Great easy hike (although a bit long for kids)! All you see is desert and then all the sudden you come across the oasis. It’s amazing!

Sarah — Google review

Great hike! Really neat going deep into the canyon. The geology is more complex than initially thought or seems. Really cool. The alternative route is really special definitely recommend taking that route on way back. We Love this park it always amazes us.

Carlos A — Google review

It took us almost two hours there and back again at a moderate pace. Stream crossing twice on the way. Look below your feet for lizards and snakes - we saw a big western diamondback rattlesnake! Look up for bighorn sheep on the rocks. The beauty of palm oasis is unmatched and provides shade. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Open sky restrooms at the parking lot.

JitkaKac — Google review

Borrego Palm Canyon is a joyful and peaceful hiking spot. The 1.5-mile trail leads to an overlook with views of the post-fire palm recovery. Don't forget to bring enough water; I took 0.75L, but it wasn't sufficient for the dry air and upper 80s temperatures.

Gala G — Google review

An awesome hike for families! Borrego Palm Canyon was beautiful this weekend. It can get really hot so time your adventure in the winter, spring or early in the morning. A sign said it was lambing season (February), but we only spied adult sheep. Bring water and snacks. Our trek was about 3 miles round trip, with some sections of the canyon still closed- due to a fire a few years back. With littles, anticipate about 30 minutes a mile. I was shocked at how much water was flowing down. A true desert oasis! Please note, dogs are not allowed on this trail.

Tim Y — Google review

Great hike not too hard or Long. Usually has water and might see some big horn sheep

Chuck L — Google review

One of the best trails in the Anza Borrego SP. It is short, about 3 miles round trip, family friendly, full of beautiful surprises especially in winter. We hiked this trail with our two kids, they spend a lot time playing with the water and rocks. At the end of trail is the palm grove, they seem caught fire but still alive. The creek is full of water and mini waterfalls. I enjoyed this trail so much, highly recommend it.

Shumin G — Google review

We hiked the trail yesterday. It's a beautiful trail and wildflowers are starting to show. Tread mindfully if you decide to get closer to the stream or decide to pause at a rock, they grow around them too. We took the trail that followed the water and had two stream crossings to get to the start of the oasis. We learned from other hikers that there is an alternate trail with no water crossings. We didn't see any bighorn sheep but very much enjoyed the easy hike. Pick up a brochure at the trailhead entrance which will interpret the sights at numbered markers (we forgot to do this) and bring water. It's not a long hike but it's warming up so you will need to stay hydrated :-) We were also glad to have a hand towel and extra socks.

Heng F — Google review

Fantastic hike. Mostly exposed with some light scrambling closer to the palm grove. Was the only one there early Monday morning.

Anthony S — Google review

It was very fun hiking 🥾 and see some of beautiful wildflowers.

Ta — Google review

We arrive at 2pm, after hiking the entire trail round, we get out at 3:50pm. It’s a nice easy-moderate hiking with climbing rocks. But the palm oasis at the end is great and worth the trips. Time well spent there!

Sights & Landmarks

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is a massive wilderness area that boasts an abundance of hiking trails, wildflowers, trees, shrubs, and cacti. It's considered one of the richest natural-history museums in the nation and features stunning desert vistas that are unmatched in their privacy and beauty. Camping opportunities abound for those seeking a more secluded experience, with plenty of space to explore off the beaten path.

We loved our stay at Blair Valley. We got a beautiful campsite. It is a wonderful time of the year to visit. There is so much to see here. The desert is in full bloom this time of year. Will definitely return.

Kelli L — Google review

Beautiful slot - but NO signs as to how long and/or if it was round trip. The state park magazine said 1.5 miles round trip - but it was actually closer to 3 and there were 2 other groups down there trying to figure out if they should turn around or if the trail would loop back. Both ways worked, but there was no sign and no obvious way out.

Lorna W — Google review

The most incredible camping imaginable between blue birds, ravens, eagles, hummingbirds, rabbits, beetles, and eternal starry skies. No mosquitos. Hardly any flies. Please keep this area clean for the next person by disposing of cigarette butts, bottle caps, etc.

MJ B — Google review

We saw one of the most breathtaking views of wildflower blooms here! The visitor center is good with a lot of interesting information about the park and its wildlife. Must visit if you are intrigued by desert ecosystems.

Shruti D — Google review

I love primitive camping and backpacking in Southern Anza-Borrego. Quiet serene, lots of big boulders and Ocotillos.I used to say the desert was mostly a wasteland, but I've learned so much about life in the desert the past 7 years. From water sources to seeing humming birds and dragon flies. The plants, the animals and the history. There's so much to experience.Avoid Mid June - Mid Sept due to heat. Winter is never too cold.

Chris G — Google review

Drove here as LA was rainy and cold, and it proved to be worth the 3hr drive. Amazing landscape and less crowded.Don't miss wildflowers season in March, canyon trail, the sculptures, and the rocky cactus loop trail. Check photos.

We had a wonderful excursion at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. It was so delightful to see the dry desert come alive in swathes of bloom as far as the eye could see... all the way to the foothills. A glorious sight. These were grouping of a variety of plants in colors of yellow, white, magenta, orange, and purple. Also, cactus blooming in some areas. The interesting, rusty giant metal sculptures of varying creatures were so fun to see. Make sure your first stop is at the states visitor center to get the scoop on the current bloom sites, the history, reliable maps, botanical display, hikes, and see an interesting film. It will assure you get the most out of your visit.

Nice area, can be warm and a bit breezy, with good roads. There is wonderful visitor center with lots of interesting books and info. It even has an informative short movie and the gift shop. You can buy food or bring a picnic and enjoy the park in the center of town that is dog friendly, has restrooms, and the kids can play.

Always a fun visit! Even better if you drive a high-clearance 4WD vehicle to explore the many trails and slot canyons! Highly recommend.

We went to see the flowers - and we were not disapointed. We skipped the vistor center which was overwhelmed, but as locals we just followed the directions of the rangers who were directing trafic, with calm professionalism depite the chaos all around, and we were not disappointed! I love this State Park and try to go durring the bloom every Feb/ March, phenomenal!

Great place, from the various palm oases to the statuary field (which I will separately rate) and more. And, most of it's free! Note: if you're driving a rental-car company SUV with highway tires, take seriously the off-highway roads with "loose sand" signs.

Since this is the largest state park in California, expect to do a lot of driving. The area is surrounded by mountains and desert floors. There are numerous washes throughout, but there's very few signs from the road to give you a warning where it is. By the time you see the small sign in the wash, you've gone too far and have to turn around. We stayed at Tamerisk Grove CG but probably should've stayed at the Palm Canyon CG due to size limitation. There's also over 500 miles of road for free boondocking with 30-day stay per calendar yearWe did see the Truckhaven Rock area, Font Point overlook, and hiked the Slot Canyon out to the Borrego Badlands. Excellent spots if you have a couple of days. While not part of the park, we did visit almost all of the large sculptures seen around the city of Borrego Springs. We have a 4x4 pickup truck but not high clearance. Recommend it for some of the more technical roads. Most washes were fine with just a 4x4 vehicle. We recommend visiting this park if you happen to be in the area.

Loved our experience here - stayed in the Tamarisk Camp Grounds and explored as much as we could. The State Park is well kept and the visitor's center was a hit too! The flora and fauna are abundant this time of year.Check out the Galleta Meadows if you get a chance. We only saw a sliver of all this area has to offer.

This state park’s wildflower super bloom season is so beautiful and picturesque with the backdrop of the mountains. With the cool breeze, the calming scent of the wildflowers fills the air and soothes the soul. And the metal sculptures add a cool touch to the park, especially the dragon one.

Beautiful park. Drove there to go hike the palm canyon trail, and I can say that the drive itself is worth it even if I had not done the hike. After the sun set, I was able to see the stars very clearly. It was a breathtaking moment as you cannot see a starry sky like this in most cities. This park forever holds a spot in my heart for the experience it gave me and the stars it showed me.

Visiting all of the sculptures is a must! Do watch for scorpions and rattlesnakes in the summer. It’s way too hot in the summer for dogs unless you plan an early morning. It’s considered an International Dark Sky do Milky Way photography is amazing too!

Anza-Borrego State Park is a stunning natural oasis, with a scenic entrance road that sets the stage for its beauty. While the metal sculptures aren't near the visitor center, they're worth the drive along Borrego Springs Road from the Christmas Circle. These whimsical creations add a unique touch to the already captivating landscape, making Anza-Borrego a must-visit destination for nature and art lovers alike.
